If someone asked you how/where do they start/begin to get/stay fit & healthy .. What would you tell them ? Let our *inquiring minds* know as always .. It just may help others :)
Getting there is one thing, staying there is another........
Although I've never been a very large person, I've gone up and down in my weight and fitness level my whole life. Partially due to multiple knee surgeries from a water skiing accident when I was 19. Partially because despite the fact I've always been and active person, I also love to eat. Never below 118 and never above 145. In recent years it's typically been between 130-135.
Any way, I've done a lot of "STARTING" in different ways. I've started with a three day detox which I really liked. I've started with reading books on healthy eating which also helped tremendously. I've started with calorie restriction which I would NOT recommend. Sometimes I have kept journals which is really good. I usually also have at least one pair of pants to measure my progress with.
I'm sure there is more(LOL). Anxious to hear what others do.
Good reminder about checking in with one's doctor Mandy, I think you stated it all well & so true too. Think many think it will happen overnight As for the knowing & doing .. oh yes well .. Least you're in good company Besides we all have our good & not so good days you know. The more accountable we are the better too right ? I know you'll find yourself back on track sooner. Whether we know the drill or not .. It's a matter of time :)
Oh yes getting there & staying there, Sounds so simple yet we know better Many of us love food & so much to choose from, LOL Portion control helps though but again not always so easy. You shared some excellent ways to get started & hold ons motivation. Love the pants idea too. Will be interesting tos ee what others say as well. Appreciate you sharing with us :)
Isn't it a terrific feeling when someone asks you this Colleen ? Even better is you sharing what has worked for you. Letting others know how to start their journey is so helpful. I think you're right on about adding this or that slowly. Waiting in between to see how one does, what works is important. To remember we didn't get like this over night ... And that time, deremination, perserverance, patient will allow us to succeed :)
You said it all true Aileen, Everyone is different & must do what feels right for them. Lucky you that your doctor hinted & you listened Not always the case you know I bet one day your neighbor will get it .. so hang in there with her .. Great job for you & you should be so proud :)
Good point about that TV & moving it Liz, So many expect it to *fall* off all by itself Would be nice though now wouldn't it .. It takes work & committment. Great idea on the adding of 500 steps daily, weekly. I should do that too ::blush:: About the foods .. not always easy on those *Healthy* ones

I love this question!
If someone asked you how/where do they start/begin to get/stay fit & healthy
My advice for those that want to lose weight is to turn off the TV and get moving.
Even better is you sharing what has worked for you.
