If someone asked you how/where do they start/begin to get/stay fit & healthy .. What would you tell them ? Let our *inquiring minds* know as always .. It just may help others :)
Well, I have to agree with Julie. "Getting there is one thing, staying there is another." So true. I have started many times over, as I am sure many of yous have as well.
I was on WW which I personally feel that it is a fantastic program. I don't consider it a diet, as it teaches you how to eat anything and everything you want, but in moderation and to be aware of what and how much you are eating in a day. Even though I really liked that program , I became very fustrated with journalling what I was eating and points etc. So, I decided that I was going to do this on my own. I have cut out eating bread. If I should have a bagel for instance for breakfast, then there is absolutely no bread for the rest of the day. I only have one can of coke/pepsi during the day. Like to day I had a can of pepsi in the afternoon so for supper, there is water or a glass of juice. I have also cut down my portions. I find that it has helped me a great deal. Once I was really serious about this, I had lost my 5 pds, but unfortunately I did put on a few ounces this week....my fault but I will not go any higher, I will loose those ounces I put on this week and more.
I think the whole thing is that we have to make this a life time change and be aware of our portions and how much we are eating, to learn to cut out a lot of things that we really do not need to eat, drink alot of water, and of course exercise, be it power walking, dvds etc. We can do it and we will, we can not get discouraged and give up, we have to continue down the path of healthy living, so that we can be in shape,be happy and be healthy.
So lets start, put a smile on our faces, think positive, have a good attitude, set our goals and lets go girls.
It is tough at first Aileen, Maybe your neighbor will suprise you one day when she is ready. Let's hope nothing serious happens though .. You & your DH did very well .. that's so cool :)
Positive attitude is always needed Miriam, Yes the getting & staying are two different things ::blush:: Sounds like you know the *how* too Just like we all do though, LOL In time we're getting better & pbetter aren't we. Works in Progress we are together :)
Yes it is hard. I did not know portioning until 1 year later after I started the walks. I could not understand why my weight was not moving. I realized too I was not walking enough. I did learn a lot from being here. Plus it all takes patience and time.
The thing is my swhusband just started the portioning this year and he is fine with it. He does not whine for more. He even snacks on nuts like me. He used to eat a lot of cheetos but cut it off for a few yr now and does not really miss it.

It took me the same way as others....so many hints until that last hint. That did it.
My neighbor told me if she was serious she would portion her meals

We know the *formula* ..
Now we just have to be consistent with it :)
I am with you 100%. "Works in progress we are together." And...we are getting better in time. We will stick together and we will definitely get there.
