What’s YOUR motivation to diet/exercise?

  • My weight
  • What I see when I look in the mirror
  • The way my clothes fit (or don't)
  • How I feel physically
  • My family or friends (or doctor)
  • My self-image
  • An upcoming event (ex. wedding, vacation etc)
  • All of the above
  • None of the above - I am NOT motivated!
  • Other .. please share

You will be able to change your vote.

Went with all the above...

My weight was the same as when I was 9 months pregnant - 79kg
I didn't like what I saw in the mirror
My clothes were fast not fitting i.e. running out of wearable wardrobe
I didn't feel good physically & wasn't comfortable
Not really my friends, family or doctor, but the 3 missing discs in my lower back - L4, L5, S1
I feel fat & frumpy
My parents are coming to visit in Sept & my mother is always disgustingly skinny (makes me feel like a tub of lard)

I voted for "my weight" which effects everything else if it's achieved appropriately. When I weigh less: I like what I see in the mirror, my cloths fit better, I feel better physically and mentally. No up coming events but that would be a motivator as well.

Would agree with that as well Julie,
Kind of funny how the weight has that domino effect
Not really funny but can lead us into the right direction ...
Does make it appear to see ourselves in many ways I believe

Voted all of the above too. My initial motivation was to lose a few pounds to feel better and have the clothes fit better. Then, I wanted to surprise my husband with 'a new me' when he got back from deployment. Also, I knew we were going on a cruise and I didn't want to ruin our vacation by obsessing about thinking I was fat the entire time. Now all the events are over and I'm motivated because I know I feel and look much better and have a much more positive attitude toward things in genera;:-).

I voted How My Clothes Fit, but in retrospect that's more for diet than exercise.

I exercise because it keeps me sane.

All that is wonderful to hear Liz,
Although now because you know you feel & look better is just the bestest
Good for you on staying on track so you can be your best always now :)
