Help ! About 7 months ago i had a medical setback that resulted in minor surgery (removal of one of my fallopian tubes). Since then i have hit the gym  at least 3 times a week (30-45 mins on the treadmil or stationary bike and 1 hour strength training with weights )and am vegetarian but am gaining a lot of weight ...in fact i have gained 10lbs over the last 3 months and keep gaining weight ! I dont know what to do i am not sure what is going on ! Help !

I would keep a journal for a week, measure what you are eating and count the calories just to make sure there aren't any hidden intake issues.

I would definately start a food journal to check out exactly how much you are eating.

I used the frazzled icon since I know how frustrating this is for you. Exercise does burn calories but does not necessarily cause weight loss. It tones muscles and strengthens bones. Counting calories and being careful about what fat/carbs we eat helps us lose weight. I agree that this sounds like it may be hormonal after the surgery. Certainly check with your doctor to see if this is a possibility. How old are you? Age can also present us with a whole new set of challenges in the weight loss arena. Good luck getting to the bottom of this!

Hi sherri,
Welcome to the board :)
I see others have shared some great suggestions for you.
Let us know what you decide & if it helps/works.
Speaking with your doctor sounds good too.
Hope we'll see you back here again :)

Thanks for that tip Liz,
Probably something I need to look at & would conceivably increase the weight-loss factor in my case too - I really function best on a low carb, higher protein eating plan though I do love my carbs...
