Banning Bottled Water

water bottle The other day I was reading about a small town in Australia whose residents voted to ban the sale of bottled water. It struck me that this is a pretty interesting approach to stopping the flood of plastic bottles that wind up in our landfills. On top of that, here in the U.S., Congress is debating whether bottled water is really any better for you than tap water, and if it should be more tightly regulated. Check out some of the cons of bottled water and let me know what you think in the comments section of this blog post.

I'm blushing with Hugs! I agree with Hugs that it probably should be banned, but I don't want that to happen either. Bottled tastes lots better than tap water and I've done the filter thing and don't like being bothered with messing with it. Bottled is easy, tastes good, I like it, I vote to keep it.

Did you know if there was more recycling done of plastic bottles, then bottled water would be just as green as filtered water.
Recycled plastic uses approx 5% of the resources that producing the original bottle did.
Plastic actually uses less resources than glass or paper...
Also when you look at the lack of quality control in drinking water aka tap water

I had heard yrs ago about not necessarily knowing where some bottled water comes from, that it may be just regular tap water.

I don't think bottle water should be banned
It's a much better choice than soda when out.

But .... I think people need to think twice before buying it for their everyday needs.

I see people loading up their carts at Costco or Walmart
With the less expensive brands and I wonder if they have read the label
It's tap water!!! From somewhere else!!!!!

It just irks me that some people have become so snobbish that
They won't turn on their tap and drink water,
Someone else has to turn on the tap, fill the bottle,
put it on a truck, send it across the road,
stack it in a warehouse, put it on a shelf
And then you can drink it...........

I once saw a documentary that said most 'purified' waters were just treated water from sewage plants. I know it's clean, but I can't bring myself to pay for that from a bottle. I only drink spring water when out and tap water at home since lol.
