Exercise injury?

After some rapid push-ups and jogging, I may have messed up my Latissimus dorsi and/or my Serratus anterior in my right rib area. A doctor told me: "Your pain is in the region of the right Latissimus dorsi muscle, but is not neccessarily emanating from that particular muscle, since it is most likely deeper than that - in the intercostal muscles (muscles that are in between the ribs) "

This pain has existed since Oct. 2008. Since this time, I haven't done anymore working out. I don't even open doors with my right hand anymore as it causes tension in the hurt area. How do I go about repairing this problem? What is the best test to show if I did indeed mess up some muscles, tendons, or nerves in this area?

Hi Trymester,
Sorry to hear you're hurting :(
That is quite a long time for you to have that pain as well.
I suggest you perhaps speak with your doctor.
They can recommend what kinds of tests would best help to determine next step.
Let's see what others have to suggest as well :)

I would ask your doctor for a referral to a physical therapist or a sports medicine doctor who can help you with the healing process.

Hi Try, I'm so sorry to hear you've been injured but I agree with the rest that if you're still in pain after all this time you need to see a Doctor again. He may refer you to a specialist or have you work with a physical therapist until you are pain free.
