That's how we stay on track by doing that :)
I eat whatever I want.

Healthy is best along with moderation of course :)
I'm sure that word moderation is taken into account big time :)
I snack on whatever catches my eye. What I do do is try to limit the number of snacks I have per day and practice portion control. I usually have a snack between lunch and dinner. That is normally a dill pickle spear or a handful of baby carrots. Evenings are still really, really tough for me and if I'm going to have a downfall that's when it will be. If I choose to have peanut M&M's, I have just have a small handful (6-8 of them), that's because of my diabetes. I used to eat bagfuls of these things. I was really hooked. They are now a very special treat. If I'm hungry for chips I get out a small bowl and put chips in there. I never eat out of the bag anymore. I normally save this as a treat to go with a sandwich for lunch, though. That way I have all afternoon to do things to use up the calories. If I crave ice cream, it's only a small bowl and I really do try to find frozen yogurt instead as there is less fat and sugar. We also usually buy the light versions, though they often have more sugar in them to make up for less fat. I also have sugar-free candy on hand to take care of any chocolate cravings I have. One piece is usually enough to put it to rest. I have also found I really enjoy a small bowl of sugar-free instant chocolate fudge pudding made with skim milk. Most of the time I like to reach for baby carrots for something crunchy, fresh fruit that is in season, or celery with a little reduced fat peanut butter.

Well it sounds like to me you are really trying ..
That's half the battle as you already know, LOL
Also you do watch your portions which is extremly important I believe.
Smaller snacks through out the day can be ok ..
Again portions & moderation is the key.
Remember to be proud of you for all the *great* things you do do :)
