i'm a compulsive snacker and need advice

i have incredible self-discipline concerning most things in my life, but if there is a snack around that i like, i think about it until it's all gone - and most of the time that means i eat all of it! i've tried relying solely on my own discipline, and while i believe that is the best way, lately that has been slipping a bit. i've also tried keeping a rubber band around my wrist and snapping it whenever i thought about snacking, but apparently that didn't bother me haha. and i don't live in my own apartment anymore, i live with my parents, so the "no snacks in the house" option won't work because my parents are snackers, too! and they just don't care. i do care, and i need to stop munching. any advice???

How about trying
What about having a huge glass of water before any snacks ?
Would that help ?
You might eat less :)
Oh good on the healthy snacks !!
Well I drink a cup to a 1 1/2 cups of water before snacks and meals that way it helps me to not eat so much.
Ever try that? Of course it may not help everyone, but you never know.
Yes I have been doing it that way for a year and it helps me control my portions.
That should allow you to not eat as much hopefully
Also another idea would be to wait 10 minutes before you have that snack.
Do something else, walk away .. try it, it helps :)

could you maybe ask them to hide the snacks from you??
my daughter was a major snacker, she's a junk food addict, and i do let her have stuff but i had to start hiding it ... out of sight, out of mind, and she doesnt really eat hardly any junk now except for the occasional treat that i give her, she very rarely asks for anything that isn't there and she can't see it
so maybe if your parents just hide their snacks from you then you wont be tempted to eat them?
