i'm a compulsive snacker and need advice

i have incredible self-discipline concerning most things in my life, but if there is a snack around that i like, i think about it until it's all gone - and most of the time that means i eat all of it! i've tried relying solely on my own discipline, and while i believe that is the best way, lately that has been slipping a bit. i've also tried keeping a rubber band around my wrist and snapping it whenever i thought about snacking, but apparently that didn't bother me haha. and i don't live in my own apartment anymore, i live with my parents, so the "no snacks in the house" option won't work because my parents are snackers, too! and they just don't care. i do care, and i need to stop munching. any advice???

thank you :)

it would be easier for me if they kept snacks that i just won't eat, except that i do want them to be healthy as well. i've tried to tell my dad to hide snacks from me, but being a snacker himself i don't think he understands why i don't want to eat them haha. i will definitely start doing something in place of a snack. i tried the set amount allowance tactic, and it did work for a while, but i guess my inner snacker caved. so i need a new method, and everyone is very helpful here.

i am definitely an out of sight, out of mind person...unless i know that it's there/where it is. i have tried to tell my dad to hide snacks from me (his snacks are the ones i usually steal), but i don't think he understands what i mean. i can't blame him, really, plus i don't even know where he could hide them that i wouldn't stumble upon them. i believe it is time to change my entire outlook on snacks.
