A couple of workout/health questions

I have been doing Jillian's 30 day shred for 9 days now. I have noticed a couple of things that I am not sure are normal or not.

1. My calves cramp up like crazy- almost charlie horsish when doing like the jump rope, for example. Is this normal? Is this a potassium issue or just an out of shape issue or something else entirely?

2. In the middle of the night in bed, if I stretch out, my legs cramp and KILL like crazy! both thighs and calves do this- why?

3. Going from the floor (crunches) to standing position is so hard for me due to the extreme dizziness. I have to wait probably 10 extra seconds before starting the next standing exercise or I will seriously fall right over. Is this a blood pressure issue? Serious?

4. I didn't notice anything like this at first, but the last 2 days that I have shredded, my hearing starts to go in and out. The only other times I have experienced this is 1. when I am about to faint (from getting blood taken for example) or 2. when I am laying on a bed or floor, on my stomach and hold my head up (wierd, I know). I am wondering again if this is a blood pressure issue? Anyone else ever have anything similar happen to them?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Do you warm up before you do your workouts?

Ahh! Don't say that! I don't wanna stop-- I am already seeing results :)

I do eat raisins every day, but don't have too many bananas.

As far as the warm up- I do what she does on the video (jumping jacks, arm crosses, hip circles, etc.), but no walking around. Maybe I should try that.

Thanks for your reply and suggestions :)

Ok if you can handle the workout. If the symptoms keep coming, umm maybe you should ask your doctor to be on the safe side.

Hi Kara,
Welcome to the board :)

YOur pic/son is absolutely darling !

OK now do you eat before the workout ?
How long have you been doing it?
You said these symptoms just started ?
What are you doing differently now then before ?

Maybe take a break for a day to give yourself time to rest up ?
Then start back again slower ?
Hopefully others will have ideas as well :)

Hi there :) I started about 2 weeks ago and have done it 9 times within the 2 weeks so I definitely have been giving myself a day here and there to rest. As far as eating times, I usually tend to work out about 2 hours after eating. I suppose it does vary a little, but not by any amount of time that I think would make that much difference. I don't think I am doing anything different now than before. I am better at the workout now than before so I am ABLE to do more, work harder--- maybe that could be it.

I'm stumped!

Thanks for the reply though, I really do appreciate it :)
Oh, and thank you for the compliments about my son's photos!

Thanks so much! I might try to walk around my condo a few times next time before I start. It certainly can't hurt :)

Welcome...walking is the easiest starting workout anyway, so no it cannot hurt.

Don't know how much help I'll be, but I totally get the faded hearing thing too. I'm guessing it's a bp issue but I'm not sure. My husband has one ear clog for about an hour every time he works out.
As for the cramping issue, when I would do my step classes my calves would cramp up really bad, so bad I couldn't walk standing straight up lol. Try taking it easier on those exercises, and eating a banana (drinking Gatorade I heard too) will probably help. I also like to take a warm bath after a tough workout. Good luck!

I like the idea of you warming up a bit beforehand,
As well as cooling down after .. that may help as well.
Also yes you could be ready for the harder workout now.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing .
