Need low calorie snack ideas
| Tue, 08-18-2009 - 2:14pm |
I would greatly appreciate your ideas for low calorie snacks. I try to limit my caloric intake to 1200 a day, so I oftentimes find my self hungry throughout the day. Some have told me to try water, that does not work for me. It doesn't make me full at all, even when I drink it before I eat. Also have been told to brush my teeth, but that works for about 15 mins. I'm getting sick of yogurt, grapes, carrots, celery, apples. Please help. I'm starving as I type this and all i can think to do is pig out on some chips and dip. Yum.

Hi there...well water may not work for everyone. It takes getting used to it.
I found some:
part skim string cheese, hummus, peanut butter with whole grain crackers, spread on romaine lettuce leaves, bell peppers
I got 1200 from a website not long ago that asked me a few questions about my wt. loss goals, height, current weight, age, and got an analysis as to how many calories I should take in to achieve the desired wt. loss.
I forgot to mention these...lowfat or nonfat fig newton cookies which I love, hummus spread on crackers or bread. I tried apples with peanut butter...my first try and it was okay.
It also helps to rid your home of unhealthy snacks if possible.
Well there are snack size cottage cheese.
Also how about some of those 100 calorie cookies or crackers ?
That way you get a *goodie* & they are only 100 calories
What about peanut butter on your celery ?
Will think of more & let you know :)
Hi Ivy, sounds like you're doing great at 1200 calories judging by the test you took to determine this.
A word of caution..stay away from sugar in all forms except for the natural sugars in fruits and vegetables. Sugar in any form..HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), honey, molassas, or any of the "oses" as dextrose, etc...do mean things to bodies and brains. It can make you feel hungry and make you crave bad for you foods. It's okay to have 4 grams or less
