For me, I don't think it causes weight gain as much as hinders my ability to lose weight. A few times lately I've eaten a small snack after dinner instead of dessert and have noticed a difference in how I feel the next morning (stomach feels smaller, less bloating, etc.).

I had an awful day yesterday, despite having worked out a lot earlier in the day. After lunch I was craving salt and chips, so I ate Cheetos. Then after dinner (chicken, green beans, and sweet potato), I had a small bowl of cereal and 100 calorie chocolate covered pretzel snack. It felt like I couldn't get enough to eat and fruit and veggies just weren't cutting it.

That's my problem with healthy eating and exercise. I want junk after long work outs. Maybe I should have good carbs instead.

Sorry to hear yesterday was a tough day for you with foods & cravings,
That is a good point about it hindering one's ability to lose.
Noticing that difference in the morning is another tell tale sign too ..
You could try for different foods, more carbs after longer workouts & see if that helps.
Although sounds like you *maybe* give yourself *permission* ?

In general, I think eating at night is really bad.

Well, you know that old saying - Eat b'fast like a king, lunch like a prince & dinner like a pauper, because the food you eat at night gets stored as fat.

Sorry to hear you've not done well the past few nights ..
Any special reason or just *normal* stuff

Hi Karla,
Yes I do agree that eating late at night would contribute to weight gain as well.
Of course unless someone is lucky enough to want/need to gain

I voted other because I am not quite sure if you gain weight because you are eating late at night, but I do know that it definitely isn't a good idea to get into the habit of eating late at night. First of all , when eating late at night and then going to bed on a full stomach is not a good idea, as you will not digest your food properly. Eating and then going to sleep is a no no for me. I try to stop eating by 7:30 pm.

I personally feel whether you eat during the day or at night, depending what you are eating and how much you are eating you are going to put on the weight.

Hi Miriam,
So nice to see you here :)

Yes I do agree that going to bed on a full stomach is probably not a good idea.
Like you it does depend on the *when* & *what* you eat as for weight gain.
Some foods are definitely better than others for a evening snack.
Good for you on stopping byt that hour :)
