Biking in the breezy winds....

This afternoon the breezy winds came up. It reminded me of what I went through last year.
One of the ladies here gave me the idea to go bike riding for exercise. I thought why not since I do not have a stationary bike and my bike was sitting on the porch unused. I did wipe down the dust and spider webs and checked everything and pumped the tires and off I went.

In the early Spring, the weather was cool and nice and I added the bike riding as my exercise tool for my workouts. Some days would be great and the weather calm. Then there were the windy breezy days. Sometimes I felt defeated and almost gave up. I would want to wait for the less windy days instead but that would defeat my purpose in losing my weight.  My swhusband told me to use the winds to my advantage. The winds will give me resistance and help me. I did that and he was right. It was hard and my muscles would ache at times. I was the only one biking in the winds, too. Neighbors would look at me and think I am a bit goofy.

I am sure glad I did bike through the winds because it did help me with my weight loss. Now when the winds come back, I use the winds and do not give up.

Yep Hugs, I learned to use the winds instead of getting defeated by them.

I have seen some people using a little parachute and running or walking with the chute opened behind them.

They are doing the same thing.

Thanks Julie..that is what I went through last year. The start of changing.

I did earlier this year bike in the rain... I was the only one. One person saw me and yelled out "Biking even in the rain, good for you!" It is not too bad. I do it in the light rain, not the heavy ones. Then I have to be careful of sliding around and important thing is that others may not see me ...things happen. One never knows.

As for the winds, I still do have that ...sinking feeling , but I give myself the v8 knock and do it even for a few minutes worth.

Hey Cappy!! Thanks. It is a great thing to do. Working with the winds and make use of it. I would still be waiting for the breezes to go away if my swhusband did not insist on me going out.

Good for you Aileen.

I don't have that much wind around here, but, a lot of hills out here in the "country". That is what keeps me off my bike the most, hills that I have to get off and walk the bike on. Also a lot of fast maniac drivers and not much shoulder to ride on the side of the road, where there is room there is loose gravel.

I can load up my bike and take it to the bike trail for a nice smooth even ride, but sometimes that's too much trouble.

I've never heard of or seen the parachutes you mentioned.

Thanks Karyn.

That is rude of those drivers. Yes you have to be careful. How steep are the hills that you have?

I have no hills, so I put my gears on for the hills and ride the bike that way. More resistance, too.

I did not know about the little parachutes either, until I saw it in an articles. They must use it for high school, college or professional trainings. They use the winds too. Very interesting.
