Do you wear a pedometer?

So I didn't really want a pedometer, but saw some at Walmart starting at $5 & going up to I think $20.  Didnt think they would be as cheap as $5, but how good can they be?  Thought they only counted steps, but turns out they can also count the distance, calories burned, etc.  There are even some you can upload & get charts, graphs, etc.   Wow!  Way too many choices out there.  I didn't even think I wanted charts of my progress until I learned that there are pedometers that can do it, & not too outrageously expensive ones, either.  Now I want a chart & a graph & whatever else I can get.  LOL   This has the potential to become an obsession, at least for a while until I get tired of it, & the money will have been wasted.

I googled & found this info:

http://walking.about.com/cs/measure/bb/bybpedometer.htm

http://walking.about.com/od/measure/tp/pedometer.htm

Mainly I would like it to count steps & distance.  Originally wasn't thinking of calories burned, but it may be a nice option, however, not sure how accurate it would be.  Then I'm reading that some of them are quiet.  I guess that means that you can hear the clickin in others.  That would annoy me & I would need a quiet one.  then some can be accidentally reset.  Oops.  And if you don't wear it perfectly horizontal, it's not very accurate.  So much to consider.  Oh yeah, & some of them have a week's worth of memory & can display your total for that period.  Didn't even know I wanted it until I read about it.

SO, my questions are...  Do you wear a pedometer?  What kind/brand is it?  What features does it have? How long have you had it?  Would you recommend it?  Do you feel it's a useful tool?  Is it quiet?  And whatever else you can say about it, either good or bad.  I'm trying to see if I even want one, & if so, which one, & do I really want to spend $30-40 on a fancy-shmancy one or would a cheap one do for now until I can see if I'll even use it.  Or do I even need all the bells & whistles.

Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.

Over time small steps make a huge difference.

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.

I would at least need it to show distance. All the other stuff is a bonus, probably an unnecessary one. But it MUST be quiet. I get annoyed easily & any noise it makes would drive me nuts.

It is the second link I think, LOL
I have had it hooked up to the computer once ..
So don't use that part ..
I love that it can go in my picket & track steps.
Never liked hooking to my waistband.
I have had it several years.
Replaced the battery as well.
I really like it.
Let us know which one you get :)

I think it might be motivating also. Like i'f I'm lets say, 4,899 steps, I will walk more to get to 5,000.
Yes exactly how that motivation gets you :)

Yes, my Omron is totally quiet, no sound at all. Actually, I've never had a pedometer that made sounds. I only use mine to count steps and tell me how many miles I've walked. I don't care about anything else. I bought this one last year sometime. I like that I can put it into a pocket and not have to strap it on somewhere and the attached strap keeps it from falling

I don't use a pedometer, I walk golfing; but, it's not my 1st choice for exercise.

I also love my Omron!

I tried the cheaper ones but when I tested them by counting my own steps and then looking at what the pedometer read, they were way off!

The Omron is very accurate, doesn't make a peep, can be put in your pocket, and automatically resets itself everyday. It also has a clock on it so I use it instead of a watch. :)

It tracks aerobic steps too if you want.

Worth the extra money IMHO.
