Let me see ...I tried buddy walking....beep strike, mini step...beep strike, an aerobic workout...beep strike. I faced 3 strikeouts already. This was in Mar 2007 and it was doom and gloom and I felt low. My weight did not move from when I first started 5 months ago in Oct 2006. Not good. Doing it wrong. Not walking long enough and not briskly and not motivated.
I suppose that all this would have made me quit and give up. I passed the 2 week giving up period and the 1 to 2 month point. Hmmm....Something wants me to try again. I had seen all those advertisements of quick methods for losing weight fast and special clothing to wear, etc., but I never attempted those. I am so glad I did not.
Ok...I had my aching foot from the aerobic workout...so? I wanted something to motivate me into moving better in walking without hurting myself. Then June came and I found Leslie Sansone walking dvd. This clicked for me because it was a walking program that was gentle, variety and she was inspiring for me. For the whole summer I was doing her way of walking through October. In October,I found out I lost 8 pounds This was thrilling for me in a small way. My weight finally moved ...Wow! it took a year. Later on iVillage had a Leslie Sansone Challenge that I signed up for and continued walking. When the challenge finished, I ended up hopping to Walk Away the Pounds. It was nice for awhile, then I hopped here to Fitness and Health and stayed.
Now there must have been some reason why I took so long to go down. I think it is that I must not be so anxious to want miracles or instant weight loss. I must take things slow and keep doing them and never give up.

You continued on your journey ..
With set backs, disappoints you still pursued.
Shows a lot of determination & committment.
I don't think anything we wants comes easy
Needs continual work & nurturing ..
Just like you did!
Be very proud of how you kept on trying ..
Now look how far you've come & all you have succeeded with :)
Yes Hugs ...no giving up and had to keep it going. It was the needing the motivation and changing.
No I did not gain, because I was walking everyday. My swhusband at the time would find out that I still was not walking long enough everyday. Parking is difficult when working in San Francisco, so he would park 30 min away from his job site and walk in. Knowing that, I made myself walk about that time limit. I was not portioning at the time, so the eating plus the walking was balanced.
Just wanted you to know it was a long hard road for me , too. I understand what others are going through.
I'm glad you didn't give up Aileen,
And even more glad you found your way *here*
Me, too, Liz. Or I would not have started the portioning and water.

Yes soo easy to give up and just go back to eating and not portioning Nadine.
I do want to stay where I am and that takes determination constantly.
On days when it is very warm and I do not feel like doing things, I have to push myself.
It is soo easy to say ..".it is too hot to do that and that I am not going to do anything".
