Are Your Goals Unrealistic?
Set goals that are realistic. It's okay to have a big goal like losing 25 pounds, but make sure the time frame is realistic, such as losing 25 pounds over 25 weeks. It also helps to set up mini-goals along the way to keep you motivated, such as eating five servings of fruit and veggies every day for a week. If you set too big of a goal without breaking it down into mini-goals, you'll get derailed easily and give up

When I started , I did not set any goals. I do not think I set any until I came here and lost another 12 pounds.
Then I started thinking of the goal part, but did it by 11 pounds and told myself that would be my goal
before summer started. I did that goal for 1 to 2 pounds down each week I think.
I've been told that I set my goals to low
and challenge myself enough.
Easier to succeed with them :)
Challenging yourself enough though is always good :)
I am realizing too Hugs that when I first started, my goal was to reduce my weight from being overweight
and to lower my test numbers. Then I became smaller and decided to use that as a goal for the clothes.
Then when I went to the doctor and get the tests again and everything is all good. and the test numbers are
lower..my goals changed again to get my strengthening and flexibility good.
Whatever works helps too
YOu're doing it all very well with those goals :)
Well, I need to lose 60 lbs & I think it's very realistic for my age & stage in life. I weighed about 20 lbs less than my goal weight when I was 16, but I dont think it's realistic to expect that so many years later. And probably won't look good. If I ever get to my goal weight, I'll see if I want to stop or keep going. Right now I'm shooting for 60, but I might realize that I'm ok with a 50 lb loss. I'm trying to stay realistic.
I've been setting time frames as some say it's helpful to do, but if I dont reach my mini goals at expected date, I feel like a failure, which sets me up for some self-destructive behaviors. I've been setting mini goals of 5 lbs a month, but now I'm just doing it in 5 lb increments whenever I reach them. As long as I lose it at some point. I know what I need to do in order to lose 5 lbs in a month (which is very realistic, btw), but I'm not always willing to do it. It makes me feel deprived & sets me up for binges & major falling off the wagon. So I'm just trying to eat smaller, more frequent meals & not eat at night & it will have to do for now until I get used to it & it becomes second nature. Then I can start tweaking. It's going excruciatingly slow & I keep yo-yoing with the same few lbs, but it'll have to do for now. Until I'm ready to do better.
It's a learning experience & I'm a work in progress.
Those smaller goals are really helpful.
Any more does not always work.
You sound like you have the part of what you want/need to do
>>No other options really you know<<
Yes, I've realized that a while ago. Giving up is not an option. I must keep trying, I must keep getting back on track no matter how bad I've screwed up. First chance I get, I need to do better. Even if it's for one meal or one work out, it's better than nothing. I will succeed or die trying. lol
Yes, I tend to set lofty goals.
Very difficult habit to break...but I'm going to break it...by tomorrow afternoon...LOL.
Seriously, I'm working to break those habits that might impact my DD's well being & setting unrealistic goals is on the list.
