Come on, hit me again!!! You can do better than that can't you???
Hey....we've got "swine flu/H1N1234...." at our house!!!! ROFLOL
It's not enough that dh is having to take tests tomorrow with the pulminologist?/lung specialist. Now he has to call ahead to let them know that we have swine flu at our house, to see if they even want him to come there....lol.
The bad thing......it's the 5 year old that has it....:o(
He was at our house last evening while Mom ran errands. He had a sore throat and hoarse and cough. He was here a few (2-4) hours. His mom called this morning about 8 o'clock with the news that he was sick. We already knew that. If I might vent here a minute...seems every time he comes to our house, he comes sick. We get to spend our little time with him, nursing him back to health. I know, it could be worse. Anyway, he never went in to see the doctor, the doctor said it was the symptoms for H1N1 and sent a prescription to be filled, which dh is doing now.
Anyway, I have calls into our doctors as to how to prevent us from catching it, though we've already been exposed. So, why I am posting is.....anyone have any suggestions on preventing dh and I from catching this?? The health center gave me a couple (6 foot rule, general clean housekeeping, have him cough, sneeze, etc in his sleeve, cloth), but does anyone else have any suggestions?
Okay, while I was typing this, dh's doc called and their calling him in a prescription (antiviral) to protect him!! I feel better now.
Still need some suggestions on this situation though. Stuff like this really makes one realize how important it is to take good care of yourself. Thanks in advance.

Wow just what you don't need ::sigh::
Am so sorry to hear this :(
Glad you called the doctor though ..
And getting something for DH.
Let's hope it works
Poor baby that has it though :(
OK well wear gloves & a mask
And hope he gets well fast
How long is the recovery ?
Going to keep good thoughts that no one else gets it in your house hon :)
Wow N2 - you can't seem to catch a break!
I've read that the H1N1 is most contagious before symptoms show themselves,
But that you can still get it up to 2 weeks after symptoms subside.
Now that the little has spread the bug, it's really up to your immune systems.
I hope the anti-viral will help your husband
He sure doesn't need this now ....
P&PT for you all!
Thinking of you!
Thanks all for the suggestions and concerns.
Please keep us updated on how DH & everyone is doing :)
Whenever anyone has the flu here at our house, I use Lysol Spray Disinfectant. When the infected person leaves the room I give the room a general spray. I spray anything they might have touched several times a day. (Phone, door knobs, faucets, toilet lever, computer keyboard, refrigerator handle, cupboard and drawer pulls, etc.) Sounds paranoid, but in 95% of the cases, no one else in the house gets sick.
I used to be a substitute secretary for the public school system here in our town. I always sprayed down the office area as soon as I walked in the door. The teachers and other staff used to make fun of me until I pointed out the reason. All I had to do was ask them why I was there. 9 times out of 10 the regular secretary was at home sick.
I also, personally, gargle and sip vinegar water if I start feeling the least bit funny. I read an old, old folk remedy book written by a doctor. It said to think of your body as an agar dish. Bacteria and viruses cannot grow in an acidic base. By taking a couple of sips of vinegar water every hour I acidify my body and prevent myself from getting sick. This last month that I was ill is the first time in years that I have caught anything and the major part of that time was spent just not feeling myself. I have found that for some reason, if the sinuses are involved, the acidifying doesn't work and the sooner you start after feeling a tickle in your throat the better it works. Other people have tried it and it has worked for them, too. (One was a principal of an elementary school. When he ran into me again, he complained that he never gets a sick day anymore! LOL!!!)

Wow...thanks.
Vinegar is amazing.
You could try it with the sinus problem, but it's been my experience that it does not do the trick with that. I have allergies and am on meds.(as needed). Usually once a year I develop a sinus infection. I don't know if it is too far advanced by the time I try the apple cider vinegar water or what, but it just doesn't work. If I have a tickle in my throat, a mild sore throat, or some chest congestion, it works like a charm. The earlier you start with it the better it works. It's more of a preventative than a cure, it seems.
Bev
Thanks all.
