And you might not want it so much in the future......

A Tasty Way to Conquer Your Craving in 14 Days

When it comes to snacking, we all know that wholesome fruits and veggies are the way to go, but sometimes junk food is nearly impossible to refuse. I'm sorry, but carrots will never drive my taste buds as crazy as carrot cake. So, what can we do besides beg the supermarket manager to get rid of the snack aisle? Well, you can always give in.

Yep, you heard right! The June issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition includes research that found consuming the same snack every day for 14 days significantly reduced an individual's craving for the snack food. In the study, women consumed the same snack daily in 300-calorie portions. After two weeks, the participants felt a considerable decrease in their liking of that snack food.

I can see how that would work.

I've been thinking about not having King's Hawaiian bread so much that I went & got it.

I think this is how I can get my junk food under control.

This doesn't really make too much sense to me. It seems to me that a person who is going to eat junk for a snack will eat the potato chips (for example), for the 14 days and yes, may get tired of them, but they will still choose badly and eat different junk food snack for another 14 days. Eventually they will eat all their junk food options and by that time potato chips (their first choice) will sound good once again.

What was the relevancy of this study? It certainly wasn't to find a way to get away from junk food and choose healthier snacks.

Hmmmm...interesting to read.

I will just stick to portioning everything...safer for me.

I have been doing it for over a year now.

Yeah, I've been hesitant to buy the rolls for that very reason,
But WalMart has a cute 4-pack.
Just enough for one dinner for me & the kiddos.
I'm waiting to get back there to pick some up.

I wondered about "red light" foods too Gail.
For me there are some things I just shouldn't eat (or drink)
I like the idea of moderation - hopefully more will learn that :)
