Hey I remeber that! That situation made headlines, maybe more so in Texas I don't know. But it sure escalated into an enormous issue...

>>>Apparently, according to the article people whose dress and appearance does not match the gender on their identification are also being subject to unusually long delays and searches. Good Vibes advises that people may want to leave the sex toys at home and modify their appearance for travel purposes.

Whatcha think?<<<

Well, I think airport security has more serious issues to deal with than gender profiling and sex toys. My argument being - my uncle recently travelled from Charlotte to Phoenix to visit his yougest son (former kissing cousin *giggle*) anyway, he had a connection (I believe also in Dallas - didn't get the specific details but will definitely ask), but when he got to cuz's house, he realized that his pocket knife was still in the inner pocket of his jacket that he was wearing, through both airports. Yeah, both security checkpoints missed it. And here they are, displaying sex toys and questioning sexual appearances????? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

I've read this before... she should have made the idiot eat the damn thing.

I never had any problems travelling, but only my first flight was with a non matching ID. I did have to set between two guys, who also happened to know each other. I offered to let one or the other have my seat, but was met with "no, we want to make you a sandwich."

Oy. It took me all of a half hour into transition to hear such a thing.

Your post reminded me of something... everytime someone is searched that I see, either someone with me or when I am going through... it always seems to be women being searched. Anyone seen men being searched? Please? I hope! Surely they have to be careful about that?

Yep both times. He sent that jacket through the x-ray conveyor thingie (whatever u call it), and BOTH times, the jacket was returned to him accompanied by a smile and "enjoy your flight".

One of Airline's recent shows had them investigating a bag because of something vibrating. It turned out to be a toothbrush, but they were joking that the previous time it had been something else. I can't remember how they put it, but it was pretty amusing.

There's actually a homeland security bulletin about gender mismatches, but in July Dubya pulled another low poll numbers alert and that morning I travelled with mismatched ID, early morning flight out of Logan to California no less, and didn't have any problems at all.

rofl... I was absolutely petrified... and sat straignt as an arrow, vitually unmoving, from Boston to Atlanta. On the way home, I get stuck next to another guy, this time where there were only two seats. He was trying to be nice and talk to me, and was afraid if I said anything, I'd out myself... so I said like 3 words... we deplane in Boston, he looks at me and mutters "you are the quietest woman I've ever met!" I'm thinking "just get off the plane, and lemme out of here!"

Atlanta had the best security as I recall. Boston was the worst... you would think they should have learned their lesson from 11 September, wrong. Manchester is pretty good on security also.
