I'm trying to think back. I believe I asked my attorney about what protection I had against something happening like this, and she said yes, if you're a signer, they can come after you, but you can fight it, and sometimes they'll back down because it's not worth it. I mean, logically, if you have a court document that says the property is his, not yours, the lender doesn't have much recourse.... except intimidation, which they are VERY good at doing. Ahh, the classes they must take to master the art of intimidation.

I'd still ask them for a copy of whatever you signed at the time of purchase to say that you'd accept responsibility even in the event of divorce. Worth a try...
