Now, see sweetie, if you could just remember to end every post that way, things would be so much simpler. I'm so glad you made it home for lunch so we could discuss this. Maybe we don't need The Rules hanging from every wall anymore......
It is definitely deeply ingrained in my subconcious. I was raised on ma'am and sir and it tends to roll off my tongue quite a bit as just a natural reflex. I know Kim hates it though so I rarely say it anymore. Except to tease her, which is always fun. ;-)
You and Courtney sound like a lot of fun to be around.
I've not noticed Ma'am being used often around the foothills of NC. Maybe I've not noticed it. I know that I don't say it. You hear "ya'll" quite much in Western NC. And, I've heard "youns" too. "Youns going to the movies?" I'll never forget this one lady I knew from up north that was flabbergasted by the southern cuisine. LOL She asked me, "Why do you pour that nasty looking gravy all over your breakfast food." LOL
I was called "Rosie" as a kid growing up by my "core" family. I hated being called Rosie! Ugh! If you want to really make me irritated, call me Rosie. :(
I wish so badly that I had been named what my mother wanted to name me. My mom was going to name me Jacqueline. If I had been named Jacqueline, I would have wanted to be called Jackie as a nickname. Hey, just called me jj! Cool beans!
Why? Tell me why you would want to name a child Rose Mary in 1971? I was ridiculed for years over that stupid movie, Rosemary's Baby. I constantly explained that I was called by first and middle name. It didn't stop the ridicule. Sigh. :(
Irony...My father wanted me named after his mother and aunt. My father doesn't give a darn about me. I'm not even close to that side of the family! Ugh!
Now, most people call me Rose. However, my core family still calls me Rose Mary. Ugh!!!
Please, just call me rj. :) (lower case like kd ...who has noticed that?)
