It's all Greek to me!

Well, tonight Nony and I went round to visit a friend of ours....I say 'ours' because she has now become a friend to Nony too. Helen was my very first gf, all those years ago when I was horrified at the prospect of being with women lol! 11 years ago to be precise. After we broke up, a few years passed before we hooked up again as friends - and since then we have built a really good friendship.

Anyway, a couple of weeks back she got married to a gorgeous man called Andreas - they're both Greek Cypriot and their parents grew up in the same village in Cyprus. They had their wedding in Cyprus and tonight Nony and I got to see the wedding photos - there were these ones where they had all this money pinned to them (a greek tradition no less). You'll be stunned when we tell you how much money they ended up with....... ..............£22,000 (which works out at about $30,000+)!!! What a start to married life, huh?

I think spoiling is essential, right? Nony and I are planning on throwing her a baby shower thing...we don't have such rituals over here in the UK....but there's a first time for everything American lol!

As for my pleasure - well, I'm partial to Kronenbourg (a French beer) and Becks (a German beer) - but at the moment we have Heineken in our fridge I think. What would your choice beer be Raye?

Hmmmm... my favourite is probably Anchor Steam out of San Francisco, followed by Red Hook Double Black Stout, Newcastle, Guinness, Harp, Sam Adams Summer Ale... yum! I like Heineken, but in a can... the only beer I've ever liked in a can.

A shower is a great idea, and even better given it is not expected! Having someone you know expecting is fun... whilst they are barfing, you get to plan showers, shop for baby stuff, etc. When I met up with lav and kowski last May in Toronto, ms kowski was shall we say... a bit under the weather? She would camly trod off to a restroom to take care of things, and return like all was well. There is such a quiet strength with a preggers one...

Then I think it high time that you and Nony introduce the idea of baby showers to the UK.
