>>Honduras Recognizes Grants Official Recognition To Gay Civil Rights Groups

by The Associated Press

(Tegucigalpa, Honduras) Catholic and Protestant churches are condemning a government decision to grant legal recognition to three LGBT rights groups.

"It's sad that the government is giving its blessing to homosexuals," Roman Catholic Church spokesman Jesus Mora told a news conference. He said the government measure implies "that kind of behavior is acceptable."

The government on Friday granted legal recognition to three groups - the Violet Collective, the Gay Community and the Gay-Lesbian Group - a relatively mundane step that essentially gives them the right to act before courts and government institutions. Homosexual acts remain illegal, and gays have no legal protections in the country.

The deputy justice minister, Fernando Suazo, said the measure does not authorize gay sex or marriage, but would help overcome discrimination.<<

I know there are churches that embrace lgbt people, including Unitarian Universalist, Episcopal(in NH at least!), some Jewish synagogues...

it seems the worst offender is my former religion... the Catholic church, one organisation that should be taking a deep look within and hanging their heads in shame. Two priests that served at our parish while I attended school there are now in prison for paedophilia; our local bishop was knee deep in covering it all up. I was unaware of this when I left, was their discrimination against women, the cookie cutter mentality, the squeezing what was likely the poorest parish in the state for more money. In 1988 an insurance trade magazine came across my desk... though no one knew precise info because the church is so secretive, they estimated church liability for paedophilia worldwide at *10 billion dollars*, again... this was 16 years ago.

Now here they are saying we are perverts. An organisation that persecuted the likes of Galileo, who held the Inquisition, who actually had a group called the Assasini (guess what word comes from them?), who is supposed to be about love and bringing people together... wishes to devalue human beings because of their sexual orientation.

If they truly wish to be about love and bringing people together... they could learn a lot from the dyke community.

Sorry... tis a nelle hot button.
