attention. And I've not been able to stop thinking about it.

So...

Do you write?

Journal? Stories/books? Letters (long hand, not email)? Poetry? Songs? Something else?

If no, did you at some point in your life but no longer do so? Do you have a reason you stopped? (Share or not as you feel so motivated to do so.) Or did you just *outgrow* it? Become bored with it?

If you at this point in time write, do you find it helps you in day - to - day life? As a catharsis? Stress relief? Sleep aid? Something else?

Or do you write *just* for fun?

I know we have lots of creative talent on this board and I know from reading posts that we have many with a writer's head/heart/hand. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

TIA!

I actually have thought about that a bit as well, but more because I was worried a bit about nony losing something she once held dear. She cleared that up for me though.

I love to write, but not in structured ways; I do when something weighs on me, or when a story needs telling, or keeping in touch. I've threatened to one day write a novel, yet my skills have been hampered by a lifetime of business writing, which is no nonsense and to the point. The less adjectives, the better. After 15-20,000 business letters... still my imagination is, shall we say... lively?

The things I've experienced and the people I've met the last several years would be worthy of writing, though... they might collectively stick an apple in my mouth and suspend me over a rather warm fire.

I'd suck at poetry, at song lyrics, though I can take lyrics and rewrite them for humour fairly quickly, dependent on my mood. It takes special skills this one does not possess to write such things.

When my issues asserted themselves, and with the issues they triggered with my ex, though it was a losing effort... writing helped me think it through, find just how I felt, get it in front of my eyes for me to shape and form into just the right feelings. Then I was free to store that in my mind for discussion. Words are beautiful. And I've a fondness for the UK version of our language, or I should say their language... it is so damn beautiful.

As usual, I've rambled. Just have pamgarliconionradish breathe this way and I'll stop.

About a year ago, my sis and I were at Target (love that store, btw) getting something for mom. I was in the stationary section and came across a journal. On the front was a 1920's black and white photo of a woman, sitting forlornly on a suitcase in an empty train station, face resting in her hands but still dressed nicely and looking proper as could be given her situation (whatever that was). My hand stuck to it and I ended up buying it.

For almost a year it sat in a dresser drawer, untouched. Two months ago I started writing letters to sweetfeets in this journal. They all start out with the date and then "Dear *s*, this is your Mom", then I go on to relay the events of my life, things I'm doing, feeling, etc...I guess maybe it's b/c I'm missing out on so much of his life right now, and I don't know what the future holds in respect to that yet...I won't be able to bring back the time I've lost with him, but I can at least give him back some of the time he's lost with me, in a way, ya know?

I had 2 poems published. 1 in a coffee table book and 1 in a spoken word CD set.

I had to write my own comedy that is a part of stand up. From that I was able to be asked to write a radio commercial for one of the comedy clubs and to save money I did the voice over. I also (from doing comedy) got a job as a feature writer for a local paper and that led to another weekly thing I did called Street Beat which I went out on the streets and asked peoples opinions on local current events. That led to people asking me to cover concerts, sports etc. And somehow I just started getting all kinds of reporter jobs and asked to take my camera with me so it just kept snowballing. It was/is the best work I have ever done. I was able to do alot of my writing from home after I went out and covered the event or feature and did my interviews. I got to meet all kinds of people, from Senators to homeless people. Whenever I did stories on the homeless here I would ask my editor for money, he would give me $100.00 to pay $10.00 to each person for their stories. I just hope they did not use it for the wrong thing.

I have written music, some I performed or local musicians have for me. Some I have written for my comedy set.

I like to add humor to my writing, but it is nice not to have to be funny every second.

Writing is my favorite thing and I will persue that.

Thanks for asking us Courtney it will be interesting to read all the posts.

I think so many people enjoy writing for many reasons, being creative, letting things out, release of tension, creating your own world, many reasons.

Sadie those will probably be some of the most important words ever written. It will be something that will always be cherished by Sweetfeets his whole life.

What a sweet and wonderful gift. A great idea.

Hugs,

Laurie

Well Courtney, I do write occaisonally. Sometimes I do word processing on my computer, when I'm not online, which isn't that often, but I do generally write. Well, it's sort of common knowledge in this community that I do write some poetry.

I used to write some poetry when I was younger and in a really bad relationship, so, I could at least release some tension and anger. I stopped writing because of the things in my life that were changing. Every so often I'll put it down and then pick it back up.

Nowadays, I'll continue to do some word processing on my computer, I generally put it on my computer from prying eyes.

Thanks for the question.

Hugs,

Sebastian

You had mentioned to me to start journaling to relive my stress and get my thoughts together on certain things going on. Well, I have and you are right ! I'm going slow with it, but it is helping. I bring my little

I keep a journal for day to day happenings, thoughts, questions, and blessings. I enjoy writing as it helps with growing as a person. I also will write my short and long term goals as well. I have been journaling for many years. gracmae59

I write grants. (snore)I spend all my creative energy helping other people get free money. But, my old English professor loved reading my assignments and if I ever get any free time, I am going to write something. A book, a short story, maybe even a poem. Oh to dream....being an author is my dream job, but I am in no financial position to stop what I do and do what I want. Sandra
