attention. And I've not been able to stop thinking about it.

So...

Do you write?

Journal? Stories/books? Letters (long hand, not email)? Poetry? Songs? Something else?

If no, did you at some point in your life but no longer do so? Do you have a reason you stopped? (Share or not as you feel so motivated to do so.) Or did you just *outgrow* it? Become bored with it?

If you at this point in time write, do you find it helps you in day - to - day life? As a catharsis? Stress relief? Sleep aid? Something else?

Or do you write *just* for fun?

I know we have lots of creative talent on this board and I know from reading posts that we have many with a writer's head/heart/hand. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

TIA!

I write for a living... technical writing. I'm not so sure I like it, but I'm good at it and I love the people at my work. Hmmmm, you know, I don't really write so much now. My days are mostly spent supervising, in meetings and editing other people's work.

I do have all sorts of stories in me, and a musical(!)... unfortunately I have no skill as a creative writer. I wish.

One of these days I'll write something with Phoebe, who definitely has the skill. I'm all for achieving fame and fortune using someone else's skill!

Caly,

Have you tried POETRY.COM? Also, have you ever bought a copy of The Writer's Market?

They are most important for getting published.

The book The Writer's Market is a list of all publishers and what they need to accept your submissions. Everything from poetry, greeting cards, magazines, books, they also list workshops, and what is or is not selling on the market at this time etc.

You can also call all of your local papers, magazines, and bookshops. Our local bookshops will sponsor or allow local writers to sell their work in a section for local writers.

You can have some booklets printed at a printing company and self publish and sell them at the local bookstore. Also try making your own web page and don't forget to put the little copy right symbol under your poems. I can't figure out how to make it on here.

Getting published for me did not happen until I started knocking on doors and making phone calls and submitting. Never take rejection personally it is just part of the business. Someone might turn you down when someone else will love you. You just never know.

I would enjoy sharing ideas with you. If you have any suggestions I would be interested in hearing them. Thanks and

Hugs,

Laurie

I LOVE to write. Words are my favorite things. I've always been a grammar nerd! I love discussing the finer points of grammar! A former coworker and I used to spend parts of our afternoons pouring over style manuals. >rolling eyes<

Anyway, I digress...

I used to journal but haven't in years. It is very therapeutic for me, but life just got in the way of doing it on a regular basis. I am trying to get back into it now with encouragement and support from Caly and my therapist. I love a long, handwritten letter, but again, I haven't written one in a while. I can be quite verbose and tend to write long "catch up on life" emails when the mood hits. When I was going through the darkest periods of my experience with depression I would write really long posts about that. I

Hi ting,

Glad to hear that you are writing again and have all that support from Caly.

If you love grammer and want to have a good laugh, you need to get the book titled

Anguished English if you have not already read it.

Hope you are having a nice day now,

Laurie

Hi Laurie and Thanks!

I have been to Poetry.com and got taken in by their program, and they published a poem of mine.. but I have since learned that though they are legit, they are frowned upon by many in the poetry world so I have sort of shied away from them.

Its funny that you mention the Writer's guide because I just now bought the 2005 Poet's Market.
