Eating and Working Out

I would like to announce that I have been running 6 miles on Saturday now for a couple of weeks. I'm proud of that. Just thought I would mention my accomplishment. :)
I have some questions for you ladies. I don't know if anyone will have any ideas. But, I want to create a better diet for myself. I eat alot of beans and rice because I'm on a limited budget and it is cheap. I've read that you need to eat more fish. I don't really know how to prepare fish. I've also read that salmon is good for you. I would also like to try some healthy shakes and stuff, because I have blood sugar problems and sometimes that is a real bummer, you know.
I want to combine a good diet with a good workout plan that won't leave me with blood sugar problems. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for your time,
rj

My gf could make some suggestions. However she could get into trouble not knowing medical things about you and the fact that she is no longer liscensed, so she cannot actually prescribe or make an actual diet plan for you.
I will get back to you on this.

Well rj, I have diabetes type2, I have to watch my weigh, and I generally have to take my sugar levels. (I haven't lately, because I hate sticking myself)anyway, I generally eat a balanced meal. My doctor has told me that I have lost weigh, when I came out of the nursing home, I weighed 180, and for a person that 5'6", that's not good. So, when I came home, I started eating moderately and watching my sugar intake. I drank water, sparingly, I can't stand water, but I drank it anyway, and I drank nothing but diet sodas with a lot of ice. After a while, and keeping myself on my moderate diet, I lost 9lbs. My doctor was very happy about that, and so was I, lol. So, that's all that I can suggest. I would first ask a doctor about your blood sugar, but I would also, eat moderately, and, of course, keep up the exercise.
p.s. I also exercise, except, I do yoga. It helps me to deal with stress and it does wonders for gradual and safe weight loss.

I do all my shopping at the natural food store, and eat on 25.00 a week, I do indulge every once in awhile in organic dark chocolate, yummy! Hope this helps and keep up the good work! gracemae59
I've tried to get a grip on this blood sugar thing. I've even asked people- like at the Y and GNC. I get these crazy looks. LOL I don't know. I know I eat bad stuff sometimes. Like yesterday, I had pizza. I didn't have a blood sugar problem yesterday. Actually, I had pizza and a slice of pecan chocolate chuck pie. Anyway, if I pack in the calories, sometimes I'm okay. It is a tricky thing. Sometimes I feel like I've eaten enough, yet I end up with the shakes after a workout. I've been tested over and over again for diabetes (spelling?). I don't have diabetes. I guess that I should visit a doctor, but they are so expensive. I actually carry granola bars and peanut butter with me. LOL They are good when I get what I call the "crazys."
Thanks!

Take care. I really enjoyed your post. I'm going to look into making some of those shakes you mentioned! Oh, I'll try the salmon the way you mentioned as well. Thanks again!
