Eating and Working Out

I would like to announce that I have been running 6 miles on Saturday now for a couple of weeks. I'm proud of that. Just thought I would mention my accomplishment. :)

I have some questions for you ladies. I don't know if anyone will have any ideas. But, I want to create a better diet for myself. I eat alot of beans and rice because I'm on a limited budget and it is cheap. I've read that you need to eat more fish. I don't really know how to prepare fish. I've also read that salmon is good for you. I would also like to try some healthy shakes and stuff, because I have blood sugar problems and sometimes that is a real bummer, you know.

I want to combine a good diet with a good workout plan that won't leave me with blood sugar problems. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your time,

rj

You are so welcome rj.

Sin saturday might be throwing you off a tad but it is okay to have one bad day. Maybe just a little less sin. LOL.

Keep me posted as how you do and what else you find in researching.

Hugs,

Laurie

I can't get any good loving from a woman, so I gotta have something like cheesecake to dive into for a little satisfaction. LOL :) Eat big, run hard- then you are too tired to think about loving. :)

Hey rj,

Maybe your problem is running to hard. Slow down so you don't pass all the women by!

Slow down enough to wink and smile. Then you will have someone to share that cheesecake with.

Nawwwwww, let her get her own cheesecake. haaaaa

wow Kim,

Marathons? I am truly not worthy...

The most we ever had to run in the navy was a mile and a half or 2. I thought that was bad enough. lol.

I just cannot seem to run like that.

I can do other workouts and a short run and that is it.

Very impressive!

Are we going to hear about your weekend? Or maybe I should check the other posts before I ask that.

Later,

Laurie

I want some Tiger's Milk bars, but I cannot find them anywhere! The Y sells them for $2 a pop! That's robbery!

I love to run. Actually, I'm a bit new to running. I began running after I developed a crush on Kathy, the PFLAG mom. She ran in marathons ever so often. To impress her, I began running. Of course, it didn't impress her. She was heterosexual. But, bonehead didn't take that hint at the time. "Seemed like a good idea at the time." LOL

Anyway, now I run for two reasons...1) Because I like good fattening foods 2) Because it releases frustration and negative energies.

Hey, walking is good for you too. It is easier on the knees. :)

hey rj! d' ya know there's a condition called precursor to a diabetes, plenty young women have it and don't know it-it's what it's called, a condition leading to diabetes, but unlike diabetes it's totally reversible at this stage. i found out about this at shape mag's website, www.shape.com, or is it... www.inshape.com... it's one or the other. don't remember where but try running a search for old 2004 articles... you might want to get more details from your GP.

RJ,

You've gotten some wonderful advice. I'm glad you started this thread, because I think about this often and need to be reminded of what I need to be eating. I run 2-3 miles three times per week, not nearly what you run. But, I also get the shakes when I don't eat enough, and it definitely sounds to me like you're not getting enough calories to keep yourself going. On the days I work out, I always eat a good, solid lunch like a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread, yogurt, fruit, maybe some popcorn or I will eat something like chicken, rice or potato, and veggies. In the afternoon I will eat popcorn or a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter or toast with peanut butter. I have to make sure I've got protein in my system before I work out or I'm sunk. Cheese and whole wheat crackers are good too. Every morning I eat a Nutrigrain low fat whole wheat waffle with peanut butter. As you can see I am big on peanut butter! LOL
