Date night?

Kim and I have date night once a week, almost every week. We feel it is a very important time for us to reconnect as a couple, take the time to just stop and breathe for a moment. Although we see each other almost every day, during the week I don't get home till about midnight and she has to leave for work at 7:30 the next morning - so though we see each other, and LOVE that time together, date night is our one night that we actually have plenty of time, can take things slowly, and just be together.
Which leads to the question...
We go to dinner every week and then sometimes a movie afterwards. I really enjoy doing this, but would love to surprise her with something new and different sometime. But...
I'm drawing a blank. Completely. I've been thinking about this for a couple of weeks, and I just don't know what to do. I need ideas. And you don't need to be coupled to offer your thoughts on this. I'm looking most especially for CHEAP ideas. A splurge now and then is fine, but... ya know.
And don't worry,

How about the both of you go to a supermarket and get some fresh fruit and after cleaning
them, eat them, feed them to each other. I've been to Virginia before and it has a lot to offer a romantic couple like you two.
Just suggestions.

One thing I used to love about Virginia was all the fall festevals. Including the Blue Grass Festevals. They are not usually expensive and many times people who play say ahem a guitar can get up and play with the others on stage. Sometimes they are like big jam sessions and other times they are not. But they were always fun.
We go to alot of the fall festevals up here and take lots of pics. Usually these festevals go on into the night.
Also, a night of camping is pretty low cost. Take some favorite foods and drinks and spen the night by the fire and who knows what else in the tent.
Then after coffee and breakfast you can head home to the showers. Sometimes we like to do a one nighter like that or a motel somewhere where there are things to do and see that are close by. As long as grandma and grandpa watch the furry kids.
Do you have an outdoor concert area where you bring your own food and wine and listen to live music? ours is not expensive and it usualy is held at night. Sometimes it is symphony etc. You take your own blankets or chairs and food and wine or what you prefer. Once we had a concert inside a big old quarry all lit at night. It was really romantic.
I think I will look up Lynchburg on the net. Spring is great down there for canoe trips for the day or weekends. You also have part of the Appalachian Trail. I need to see exactly where Lynchburg is then I will get back here.
I loved living in Virginia. I don't think you are to far from Washington. Okay I better check.

I really found there was never a time to be bored.
Also you could see a play go to a museum.

I think you need to copy and paste it. then save it to your favorite places.
There are some festevals coming up I think.
Another way to meet people is to join a vollyball team or something like that.
Let me know what you think of the site.
Good hunting,
Laurie

I'm a home body pretty much, so I would most likely try this approach...
A full course meal with an appetizer and dessert. It would depend upon what she likes in her cusine. But, you can get creative. Like with the dessert, you could serve up a chocolate box with a poem in it written by you to her. That is just an example, you could come up with something else that may be more appealing to you. I would turn the lights down low and light candles all over the area that you'll be in. I would also play light music like jazz or classical. I would play music that doesn't have someone singing, because you don't want to compete with someone's voice while you are engaging in conversation during dinner. If you can find it in your budget, spread some type of flower petals across the floor of the area you'll be in. This would be very romantic to engage in a slow dance by candlelight barefoot in the petals.
After dinner and the slow dancing, you may want to try a mutal massage with some type of oils. This will give you both a chance to relax one another and gain vital energy. It will rejuvenate your body and mind.

But what about something fun like going bowling? Granted its no longer a "cheap" date but I bet you would get lots of giggles out of it.

For me, cooking for someone, or having someone cook for me, is the ultimate in pampering.
