Who do u vote for?

I have had very mixed emotions on this election to the point that I decided not to vote but tonight turned that around. IMO, you do not want to vote another person into presidency during a war that he has started. What is the person going to do? "OK, I am president, come back home and leave all the deaths and hardship behind. IMO, that does not solve all the problems and deaths occurred from this. Tonight, it finally dawned on me that Bush is against same sex marriage and Kerry is offering at least a none judgemental insight. My background from family and school is that Republican's don't want to spend money but Democrats do. If I met Bush on the corner, he would be the likely person to start a conversation and enjoy it. Kerry I feel would not. But in the long run, Kerry is not against gay marriages. God, help me. This is the worse election I have been thru. Any comments from anyone?

The only good part about this is they can't stay more than 4 - 8 years. Thank God we don't have them for more time in office.

Hugs,

"I have my view, and my view is my view."

Those words and the rest of that paragraph just said it all for me.

I've never heard of Kerry being linked to Larouche in any way. Do you have any more details on this? It really sounds dubious to me.

The Bush family also has ties to the Nazi's going back to George's grandfather and great-grandfather.

I am not stupid to bush's anti-gay thinking. I know of what he is trying to do. But I guess I asked for this but this is good. No one was posting their opinion and thank you for yours. I know where you stand.

The changing of the constitution scares me too. Another attribute against Bush. Thank you for your response. Politics is a very scary thing to enter in conversation but deep in my heart I think we are all thinking the same.

Hey there Butterfly~

You don't know me, or might remember me from a year or so ago when I used to post on this board with great regularity. I still would, but iVillage has gotten very unwieldy for those of us who do not have the money for membership. Anyway...

Your confusion is very understandable. We've been subjected to one of the crookedest campaigns in my long memory. George W. Bush has lied to the American public with a straight face over and over again. He's appointed appalling people as judges, deregulated environmental safeguards, encouraged businesses to move overseas throwing tons of folks out of work, and declared burger flipping at McDonald's to be a full time job for adults supporting families to up his number of job creations. And this is only the beginning.

But it was your innocent comment (I think it was by you) when you noted that we would only have them for 4 - 8 years that really caught my attention. That may be true - BUT:

We will live for the next 25 - 40 years with the Supreme Court judges that will be appointed in the next four years. Right now we have a very conservative court, and several of the more liberal or moderate judges are ill, older, and looking to retire soon. Since the President of the United States is the one who will appoint their replacements, whoever is in the White House will literally be shaping the Court decisions for the entire next generation.

If you ever want to see equality in your lifetime, done properly through the court system - vote for John Kerry. If Bush gets reelected the judges he will appoint will be soooooo conservative that we the LGBTQ folk will never see our civil rights recognized.

I'm already 47 years old - and I'm very worried that my life will come to an end before I'm legally recognized as an equal citizen in the country of my birth. I carry a ton of papers around with me every where I go so that I can enter my Beloved's hospital room if I have to, or make decisions concerning her, and our future together.

This is too important to just sit out and let the chips fall where they may. We, the LGBTQ community, are at great risk. If we sit by and let those who hate us make our political decisions, then I guess we deserve what happens. But I, for one, will cast my vote for our best chance for the future - and that is John F. Kerry.

And, thanks for asking! ;)
