I have had very mixed emotions on this election to the point that I decided not to vote but tonight turned that around. IMO, you do not want to vote another person into presidency during a war that he has started. What is the person going to do? "OK, I am president, come back home and leave all the deaths and hardship behind. IMO, that does not solve all the problems and deaths occurred from this. Tonight, it finally dawned on me that Bush is against same sex marriage and Kerry is offering at least a none judgemental insight. My background from family and school is that Republican's don't want to spend money but Democrats do. If I met Bush on the corner, he would be the likely person to start a conversation and enjoy it. Kerry I feel would not. But in the long run, Kerry is not against gay marriages. God, help me. This is the worse election I have been thru. Any comments from anyone?

What an awesome topic! I have read through everyone's post and thank you all for sharing yourselves and compelling me to post. {{{KIM KIM KIM }}} - you are the voice of reason. I applaud your reasearch and homework and your matter of fact presentation of your facts. For a long time I have known that I would vote for John Kerry. You were able to present my most deepest reasons and backed them up with facts. I could not have expressed it any clearer.

I remember coming out - 1975 - and it was scary. Lost jobs and friends. I fear that George Bush, if he had his way, would destory the road we have travelled and wipe out any rights we have gained thus far. The man frightens me on a very spiritual level. Thank you Kim for allowing me to identify through your posts with a part of me that found the words I have been searching for.

Thank you buterflikisses2 for stepping out into taboo subjects -POLITICS.

If we talked about it more - openly and honestly - we may find out something about ourselves and our true political affiliations.

by-the-by... I have been refered by nursepam as the BBB. Hello to all and thanks for the warm welcome

I remember you,

I was not here for very long back then but have become pretty regular now.

It was mt comment about the 4-8 years.

Yes, you are so right about the Supreme Court Judges! I just didn't even think about that.

Very important to bring that up. Thank you.

Hope you plan to stick around this time.

Nice to see you,

I will definitely say that Bush's family having ties to Naziism is in no way a surprise.

Well here is my two cents. This is the most politically active I have been - ever. I have registered people to vote - including my 58 year old mother, written letters, donated money - all on behalf of John Kerry.

There is no perfect candidate but to me, right now, it is important to get W. out of the White House. I feel this way for several reasons (simplified here) some of which are protecting a woman's right to choose. If you noticed in one of the debates, Bush pointed out how Kerry voted against making it a second crime (against the fetus) when a pregnant woman is murdered. This would have been an easy back door way to reverse Roe v. Wade. I am all for protecting pregnant women but I am sure this was not their main reason for this. The Supreme Court picks are a major motivator for me.

Bush's attempt to change the constitution of the United States to discriminate against gays is appalling and thankfully it did not pass.

I do not agree with his actions regarding the war and Osama Bin Laden. There was so much for Bush and Cheney to gain (i.e., money) on the backs of our sisters and brothers. I do not agree with the way he lets his faith dictate legislation. Now I know some feathers may be ruffled by my saying this but I strongly believe in the seperation of church and state.

There was also a gag order place on EPA employees. They are not allowed to speak to reporters for fear they may embarass the White House.

Here are some interesting links www.factcheck.org, www.mediamatters.org, www.salon.com, www.airamericaradio.com

That is only a quarter of my two cents but I have to go to work. Unfortunately, because my partner and I cannot get married so I have to wokr to have health insurance for my three babies or come up with thousands of dollars for her to adopt them.

I've not heard the allegations about Kerry and LaRouche.

You are correct...

Prescott Bush, George W. Bush's grandfather, had a bit of trouble back in the 1940s.
