Well I was going to hold off on my m-n-g recap until the pics got posted, b/c much of our trip involves visuals that would make it easier to explain with the pics. But here's a brief lowdown, and I'm sure nurse will have plenty to add...

I actually got lost on the way to pick Pam up. Yeah, been in Houston almost 20 years and I still get turned around! Pam called the house an hour after I was suppose to be there to make sure I was up, she talked to my mom for a second who figured I just got turned around (which I did) so she called my cell to make sure that's all it was. Finally found the hotel, asked the little girl behind the counter if she'd seen a dark-haired woman wandering around the lobby. She said "yes, you look similar. Are you family?" I said no, but then thought it would've been cuter to say "we're not related, but we are family" after hearing Court's and Kim's adventure at the post office.

Anyway, I found the nurse and loaded up the car and we were off! Well sort of. I needed a coffee since I was running on like 2 hours of sleep, and I already knew we were too late to beat rush hour traffic anyway so what the hell, we stopped at the first place I could find (IHop) and loaded up on caffeen. Then I got turned around again and ended up on the wrong freeway and had to sit through some heavy traffic, but at least it lead up back to I10 so that didn't set us back too much. Okay, then we were off!

Most of the car trip involved talking, talking, stoping at Waffle House, more talking, taking pics of scenery, talking, stoping at Waffle House, talking, more pics, talking, stoping for the night, giggling and wondering how many of you think we're scromping, talking, etc etc etc etc ya get the picture?

As we entered the mountain country my ears popped with the elevation, so I was hard of hearing during most of our stay in Va. And OMG! Even though I've been through that part of the country, the hills still managed to take my breath away! And it smelled so fresh and crisp - at one point during the trip I made a comment about how I love the smell of winter. Sooz, Lise, Kim, Court and Amanda all looked at me like I was crazy and said "this is winter to you?" Well, yeah...look at where I'm from! (just yesterday it was humid and 90 degrees). Oh, and God lead me & Pam into Lynchburg, and Pam actually has pictures to prove that too.

Anyway, getting into Lynchburg proved to be a challenge in itself once we lost God. We remained lost much of our time there, to the point where I was almost bawling and Kim had to come find us. Anyway, Kim and Pam have already done a good job with the details of the actual m-n-g activities, so I'll skip over to the drive home, which included more talking, more trips to the Waffle House (we even bought our mugs and got about 20 miles down the road b4 realizing that we left them at the diner and had to turn around to go get them), Pam hurt her back the morning we left so I ended up lifting her luggage from then on - and she had to remind me that her suitcases have the pull-out thingie to use as opposed to "being macho and carrying them around like that. Remeber, you're femme".....soooooooo, more talking, more stops for Pam to get asprin, more stops at Waffle House, etc etc etc.......

Except for the getting lost part and Pam hurting her back, I'd say we had a blast, and Pam was an excellent road buddie!

I'll email you soon. I don't know if this is it, but try taking the quotes out. See what happens when you do that. And, I'm assuming you are doing the code in your signature line and not the message body?

I think what I'm going through will take time. I'm a bit scared- I'll admit. I wish Lucy were here. I need a "Lucy" again. But, maybe time will help. I actually tried to get some volunteer time at Thanksgiving, but the soup kitchen told me they didn't need volunteers. Sigh. I feel like a turkey. (little humor) If I lose my humor, then I hope I'll die, because I can't take this without some humor, you know.

Goodnight!

Sounds like a great time Pam.

I wish I could have driven you both. Between the Navy and comedy I am used to finding my way around new places as well as I no longer get upset when lost.

Whenever g/f and I take a trip together we travel just like you and sadie as far as sleeping in a bit and not wanting to be pushed. I think it has something to do with not having the dogs etc. to make us get up and rush around.

I have to tell you a story of about us getting lost. We were coming home from sheila's brother and sister-in-laws Lake of the Ozarks condo.

We decided to take a short detour for photos and somehow we started seeing men with guns on bridged and no other cars in sight, everytime we approached a bridge they watched us and talked into their radios, the next thing we knew there was the Presidential Motorcade heading to St Louis with President Clinton. Of course I got a couple of pics because it was sooooooo cool, even though we were not supposed to be there. We still have no idea how it happened as I am sure none of the security did either because every ramp was blocked off.

It was frightening and funny at the same time.

Hugs and feel better soon,

Laurie

Yes, I see the words Maquee on all but one post.

It makes me want to read from right to left. Can you change directions, lol.

so there I was blunt!

It makes my eyes cross when I read. My left eye focuses on the post and my right eye wants to track the marquee. Can you some how type in there?

Haaaa,

Ha! No, better not send your mom.

Lucy was a lady I had very deep feelings for. She didn't return my affections, but she was the perfect crush. She was a pastor of a church. And, she couldn't get married, because she was already an ordained. So, I was able to love her (in my own little world) and not worry about her getting married or having a boyfriend. Of course, I got a bit stupid and told her how I felt. That didn't go over so well. LOL Does it ever? The answer would be NO. I guess you could say it was one of those times when you could say, "It seemed like a good idea at the time." LOL

Anyway, at Christmas, I would go and attend the candlelight service. She gave me somebody to love. It made life not lonely. I mean, I was able to see her every Sunday. On the holidays, I would attend the holiday specific services. It just made dealing with being alone much better.

Don't say someone will come along. Please don't patronize me. Personally, I just hope that I'll get through this life without losing it. I don't have any hopes of love or someone falling in love with me. I once had those hopes, but they are gone. You know what, I don't want to have that hope. I don't want to because I'm tired of being rejected.

Anyway, on to the soup kitchen. I was told that there is a local Baptist church that does Thanksgiving at the soup kitchen every year. They don't want anyone interfering. I guess that is best because gay and Southern Baptist don't mix. Trust me. Been there and done that. Whew!
