Be careful what you wish for!

Looks like my "sink or swim" workflow is turning into all swim! LOL Some of you may have picked up on my occasional whining about wanting a raise. I've been in the same position for about 4.5 years and have gone above and beyond the call of duty on some really big projects. My efforts have been rewarded with pats on the back. I love my work and would rather have job satisfaction than a lot of money, but it would be nice to be rewarded monetarily after all these years. It is nearly impossible to get merit raises at my university. You have to apply for a different position at a higher level to obtain a raise or have your job audited if responsibilities have changed. I have only gotten the meager cost of living increases over the years and sometimes not even that when budget problems here were so severe. I have a wonderful boss who finally stuck up for me a while back and requested a raise. Merit raises were frozen just as my paperwork was going up the chain of command (figures!).

Thanks for your good wishes, Sandra! I'm looking forward to the new position, even though the work seems so daunting right now.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Kim! I've needed a new challenge for a while but didn't have the motivation to seek one out. I'm really hoping this one works out for me. Hugs!

TING! Congratulations! What great news! It sounds like a wonderful opportunity, for advancement, for more money, and for bigger challenges. You will do wonderfully with it, I'm sure. Much luck - and I will look forward to seeing you anytime you can pop in. We'll always save your seat :)

Hugs!
