I've lurked here and posted once or twice, but it's probably been a year or more.

My name is Jackie. I'm 27, live in MD, have a boa constrictor, 2 kids, I'm a lesbian, and I'm married to a man who is bisexual.

I grew up in the Bible belt and never really learned what lesbian or gay meant. I knew I had to get out of the locker room quickly before anyone caught me looking (god some of those girls were hot, but I was living in Arkansas!). I went to college, tried dating some guys, finally started dating my now-dh. We were best friends and when he asked me to marry him, I said yes. I didn't think I felt the way I should for him, but figured this was probably going to be my only chance to get married.

He was open about being bisexual and I was fine with that, of course I had no idea what bisexual meant either. He told me he didn't think I was straight and I got offended. Of course I was straight; I grew up Baptist and married a man! lol

After a couple years we started talking more and I finally learned what bisexual meant. To his credit, he didn't know that I didn't understand. I was able to open up also about finding women attractive. He wasn't shocked, just said he knew. Then he asked me if I'd ever been attracted to a man. I was embarrassed to say no. He said he knew that too, even in regards to him. In the last year or so I've taken a lot of steps forward. I acknowledge that I'm a lesbian, but because I do love my husband and he's my best friend, I am staying in the marriage. I'm finally out of the closet also. We attend a unitarian universalist church where we've been able to get involved with a GLBT group. I have told my mom but haven't ventured into talking to my dad yet.

We have been seeing another couple where both the husband and wife are bisexual. We have kids the same age, we've gotten to be good friends, and the fringe benefits keep everyone happy (probably way TMI there!).

I've been thinking about becoming active on this board, but it's just taken me awhile to make it back over here. Part of me has been concerned about whether or not I'd be accepted because of being in a m/f relationship, but I figure this is who I am and I just have to jump in. :)

Jackie

Hello Jackie, my name is Gigi. I'd like to welcome you here at Lesbian Life. I've only been here 10 months and these wonderful women have accepted me as I am, and not just because I'm lesbian. So, have a seat on this nice, soft cyber couch, here's some chocolate, and any beverage that you would like to have, you're welcome to it!

Hugs,

Sebastian

Hi J,

You are very welcome here. I think this would be a good place for you. If you have been lurking you probably know that.

You sound like a very nice addition to our board and I hope you decide to stay.

I'm Laurie. I am a lesbian, and I have been with my current partner for 7 1/2 years.

I have been out to most people since I was 18 yrs old.

Your husbands gaydar was right on I guess.

At least you seem to be happy with your situation. That's good.

DH sounds like a good person to be married to.

Well, I just hope you are studying for the test to get your official lesbian membership card, ball cap, pool stick, and discounts on any all terrain vehicles.

Just remember mulletts are out!! We need to spread the word!

And we no longer have to roll play by wearing mens dress slacks if we don't want to. That is just an option now. Lipstick is acceptable. If no lipstick you should keep a chap stick in your pocket.

You should learn how to bowl, play or at least watch softball, golf, and tennis, these places are great for meeting other lesbians if you want to make friends etc. of course there's always "The Bar". If you are really serious you can put a rainbow sticker on your car and buy rainbow paraphenalia at the Gay Pride festival.

You will be expected to have one or more than one cat and or dog. Your g/f will be able to help you with these things since she is a very experienced Lesbian. I bet she could get you a membership discount for her seniority. You should ask her if it is really you she wants or the toaster. Just to be sure.

Hugs,
Laurie
