I was listening to the Jeff and Jer show on my way to work yesterday morning and was horrified to hear this.

I have to admit, this one almost made me say, "yeah, why not!"....but you are absolutely right: it is just the wrong thing to do!
Perhaps the reason so many people were so blatantly willing to go with the $15 is borne out of a desire to beat the system - a system that some feel gives them the finger! Certainly, it's not about the ability to pay, or they would not have been in the restaurant in the first place, but everyone likes a freebie! I think people just need to think of it from the perspective of who else will be affected. For example, in this case, it could be the waiter and/or clerk who rang up the bill who will have their pay docked because of the error, so it's not the restaurant that is going to be really hurt by it....so, if people can't resist the temptation to take advantage of the error just because it is plain wrong, then perhaps they can think of this.....
I remember doing a transaction with the bank once and walking away with an extra $300 and I was SO tempted to just be done with it and keeping the "tip". Instead, I rang the bank and arranged to return the money the next day. I was so glad I did, because the bank teller thanked me profusely because she not only was told me it would come out of her pay, but she was also threatened with a warning letter, and had only just started her job. One could argue, that she should have been more careful and there is no need to feel sorry for her, but, let's face it, we all make mistakes. Besides, I later learned that she was a struggling, single mother, trying her best to make ends meet.
Something to think about, isn't it?
Thanks for sharing this one....it's definite food for thought!....and honesty is, indeed, the best policy!

I have to say though Cuz, that it doesn't pay to assume that everything bad that happens to us out in the world is because we are gay.

The concept of internal customer service is a good one and one that our company is big on.
