http://www.gaybars.com/index.htm

Here is a great link to all the GLBT Bars by state and by country with info on their schedules etc.

I know the Hershee Bar in Norfolk was a lesbian bar.

This is a great link, you might find a few bars near your home. They have a link to Roanoke etc. Happy bar hopping!!

Hugs,
Laurie

Seems to me bah info is essential stuff, and should be included on MapQuest maps... 1,200.22 miles, 21.32 driving hours, and there are 322 bars along your route.

I'm glad to see you are back safe and sound, even though you had trouble on your night out it sounds like you had a good time. The dolphins and the ocean waves sound wonderful. At least you two got to make some more memories together. The traffic problem and rain just gave you two more time together so that can be veiwed as a good thing! Welcome back, you were both missed! Awwww sorry to hear you only found the men's bars.

I know the Hershee Bar is the Lesbian bar down there for sure.

The ocean and the dolphins sound great! So does sleeping with the door open to the ocean.

Did Courtney get to explore a bit while you were at the confrence sessions? Maybe you can

take a weekend getaway back there sometime.

Glad you made it back safe in that weather.

Hugs,

Laurie

The Hershee Bar sounded so awesome, I would have loved to try it out. It was all the way over in Norfolk though and we'd already run up a $55 tab, it would've been waaaaaaay beyond our budget to then go all the way there, plus the trip back to the hotel. Oh well, maybe next time. It did sound great!

I very much enjoyed the time away. I played on the computer a little, totally vegged my brain on useless TV, and slept. It was well worth it, and I had the evenings with my woman, so I did not at all mind that she had her sessions to go to. It was very nice. I did not go exploring... I would've gotten lost :) LOL! The view was awesome.

Hugs!

I lived in VA. Beach and worked at the base in Norfolk. It really is not that far unless you already have a $55.00 cab fare, then it is that far. lol.

It is no problem to get lost as long as you know where you are staying, people will guide you back. Sheila is the queen of getting lost and it makes her panic so I always tell her to keep her cell phone and call or stop and ask for directions.

I am glad that you had a good time, I used to love living there, I lived in Patuxant River Maryland at the Naval AIR Test Center before moving to VA. So I commuted sometimes on the weekends because I owned a condo in Maryland. I was living in a friends house in VA. While they were stationed in Japan. And my now Ex was living in our condo.

Washington D.C. has alot of bars too. That was the only way we could go to a bar when we lived in Maryland.

I love dolpins and it is a beautiful sight to see them in the wild.

Hugs,
Laurie

Welllllllll, the cabbie estimated that it would take $40 to get to Hershee. And then $40 home. And the $55 we had already wracked up. And that was after a $100+ dinner at a delicious Italian restaurant already that evening. Our budget exceeded expectations! LOL!

Sooooooo. We went home and fell into bed. Really, the nice thing about this trip was early bedtimes (to sleep!) and no cats to distrb us while sleeping. I have been so tired lately, and I think Kim is too. It was so nice to just catch up on much needed rest.

I was very pleaseantly surprised with VA Beach. Somehow I was thinking it would be like the lower ends of Destin, but it wasn't. It was so nice. Gorgeous beaches. Lots of fun. And the dolphins were so awesome! They were so close to shore! It was a great trip.
