It has been about 6 days since I have had a good sleep. I dont know what is wrong with me. I am really tired during the day but soon as I lay in my bed my eyes are open. I have tried all the herbal teas for calming. I even tried some stuff I give Jeremy to calm him down (herbal also). I really dont want to take pills cause I am scared I wont hear Jasmine if she cries... that and all I need is to get addicted to pills!!! My dad said I just need to smoke a joint! for real though, is there any suggestions you gals have? I need some sleep! If I dont get some soon, I may go nuts!

Hi Mandi,

I have had this problem all my life. I find soothing music helpful and those relaxation tapes/CD's.

Reading something that is not to interesting helps.

I know what you mean about the pills. I even have away of fighting those though.

If I think of more I'll be back.

Hugs,

Laurie

Hi, mjewell52 -

Many things can affect getting a good night's sleep - hormone imbalances, allergies, sinus conditions, caffeine consumption. You might think about getting a physical exam to determine the cause of your insomnia, too. Even something as seemingly innocent as too much TV stimulation before you go to bed can aggravate insomnia. How you get some relief soon!

The other suggestions are excellent, I'd like to offer mine, also. I know that you've been drinking herbal teas, when I can't stand to sit up another long night, I either IM someone from this community, or anyone else that might have my Im screen name, or I would drink Chamomille tea. I try not to sleep during the day, which is unavoidable sometimes, (I simply adore a nap!). Or I might read a long and boring book, I don't have any though. But anything to relax and eases my mind, when I know all is ok. Or maybe some yoga exercise, or exercise period, something that releases stress, or maybe sex, lol!

Sometimes I have a large build up of energy and I have to do something physical, ex. (in my case, clean my apartment), do my laundry, or watch a dvd, something that will de-stress me.

Those are some things that work for me, I hope something I've suggested works for you.

Hugs,

Sebastian

IMO, please talk to your doctor. Tell him/her your worries of not waking up for your child. Depending on your age and what you are going through will determine what is wrong. I promise, it is not as bad as you think it is. Please address your doctor on this.

This is not at all uncommon in moms of 18 week old infants.
