Yes.. after we call the Head Manager/Store Owner (there is 2 #'s) if we don't get results, then the Better Business Bureau would be a good Idea..

For future reference, do not leave your car at a repair shop without a signed estimate in your hand

Many of the better garages thrive on customer loyalty.

It is good to build a rapport with a garage. I've taken my car for tires and lightweight maintenance since 1995 to a local tire shop in Hickory. They know me by name. We've had our moments over the years. I know that once when an inspection was done my lights were left on. I didn't know this and almost ran my battery down. I called to complain. The son of the owner acted like it was no big deal. After a couple of hours, he called me back to apologize. And, the next two visits, he apologized and thanked me for my business.
I'll never forget the one tire shop I visited in '96. I owned this old VW Jetta. The Jetta had over 90,000 miles on it. I had taken it to this tire shop for routine maintenance. The guy says to me that my car has this problem and that problem. After describing all the problems, he kicks my front passenger tire. I became livid. I asked him where my car keys were after noticing them not in the ignition. He pointed to a rack near the greasy office. I walked over grabbed my keys and said, "You'll not get a chance to kick my car again!" I left!
I had recently purchased the car from my stepfather's friend. He was a mechanic and had his own foreign car lot. He was cool. He was a Romanian with a deep accent and honest way. I knew the car wasn't in bad shape. So, I called him. His response to the accusations of the greasy, lying mechanic was classic...
John (the Romanian mechanic/foreign car lot owner) "You know, some people don't have work...need money. Your car is fine."
I loved to hear him talk. His wife, when she found out I was trading my VW Jetta in for a Nissan Sentra, she said "Japanese cars- they rust. Take it up North- snow, salt- it rusts."
They were very biased towards German and Swedish automobiles. I guess there is nothing wrong with that. I mean, BMW's are nice. However, those types of autos tend have a higher repair cost in comparison to let's say like my Nissan.
