We had a great Thanksgiving. The next morning all TOS hit the fan.
I came down with the stomach flu via Sheila's employees we think. It is going around her store like the plague.
Then Sheila's Dad had to go to emergencey for an infection in his leg. He is an amputee from the knee down in the other leg due to Diabetes.
Today he had emergency surgery to try to save this leg. They took a vein from his thigh and bypassed one in his lower leg. We will know more in a few days, but he made it through surgery which was scary because of his heart condition.
I have had some calls to do some video/photo/editing work for people for Christmas.
One of the jobs takes me an hour out of time for each taping at an elderly ladies home.
She wants to do a tape to leave to her children and give it to them for Christmas.
One is a Church that will be ordaining 6 Reverands at one time. Another jobe is editing and correcting a photo with a poem for family members who lost a loved one 2 days before Thanksgiving.
And I have found a Grant Writer who will write my grant proposal for a documentery film I have been wanting to work on, but just do not have the moneyto do it. I was going to write a book, but I think filming would be much better in this case.
I have found several subject to participate and share their stories. I really do noy want to sat what it is yet, but she believes I should be able to obtain this grant.
I will have alot of 'splainin' to do for this grant. I have positive support from many professionals who want to see this project completed and turned me in the right direction for a grant. So, maybe there is hope for me yet.
The General Mgr of the comedy club want me and some other comics to help out with MCing for the club because the pickings a slim right now for local talent.
I am starting to feel like me again!!
I still need to call the people in Houston for Beth. I will do that this coming week.
So there you have it. We have had a jam packed week.
I need to catch up on the board so please bear with me.
Hugs to everyone.
I am sure Lee/Cat has missed me terribly. She is probably a mess right now! Haaaaahaaa
Hugs again,

Laurie

Hi Pam,
Thanks for your post. I hope I am finally over all the illnesses. Seems I am making up for all the years that I have never been sick.
The work I am getting is the best thing that could happen to me now. It is so exciting! I have missed it so much. Lucky for me I have plenty of local connections.
I really hope I can get this grant, but I don't want to get my hopes up to high until I actually have it. It seems like the right time to apply. Our new Governor is increasing the grants for the arts and really wants to promote the arts here in Indiana.
Hugs,
Laurie

No need for appologies. I know you were being funny, silly.
Thank you for the well wishes for Sheila's Dad. He and the family sure do need them now.
We are planning a trip up there when her dad gets home to help her mom out some.
Her dad has been my mentor in writing. He saw that I had talent and supported me and told me to just do it. He was a Publisher and editor here for our paper and now that he is retired has a daily collumn. He always offers to look at my work and edit for me. I trust his judgement and he has been such a big suporter of me.
He is very special to me as is her mom. They treat me just like family. This is just sad.
Thank you for your humor as well as your well wishes for Sheila's dad.
Hugs,
Laurie

I missed you too Laurie! Everything here is settling ok, I need to find a job. I have an interview on wed morning at a youth & family place. It sounds like an awesome job, but I am concerned about the pay. If offered, I'm taking it no matter what the pay is. I need to start earning something, so I can quit spening my savings. I hope I can say what you ddid someday, about not calling it work because I enjoy what I do. But, I think those days are over for me. Back to slave labor for pennies like in my early 20's.....
I would rather be poor and happy and true to myself than rich and miserable.
Everyone here is getting to meet IRL, I'm jealous, want to meet me and Jen in Missouri sometime? LOL, maybe after the snow goes away - in the spring.
When is the next meet and greet anyway?
Have a great night - going to kiss my girl now, she just came to see me! That always cheers me up!
Hugs, Sandra

Hi Sandra,
I am glad to hear things are settling down a bit. I'll bet it feels great to be with Jen again! I am so happy for the two of you.
If you want to make good money and enjoy what you do, sell furniture. I did it and sheila still does it only she is a manager now and up for a regional position next year.
I did it for something to make an income when I stopped doing comedy full time.
Trust me, they train you, you work on commission and you make alot of money.
We both made over $45,000 our first year. More after we got better at it. They say you can make in the thirties just letting the furniture sell itself. Of course I don't think they want you to do that. You get paid while you train too. I am telling you, you won't want to do anything else unless you really have some other interest like what you did before etc.
Never worrie about how many sales people are working the floor, there is plenty of money and biz to go around. At least that is the way it is here. They really train you very well before setting you loose on the floor. It was my first and only sales job but I loved it and made a good income. I would do it again if I ever get released from disability.
I should stop now, I am sure you have heard enough.
Say "Hi" to Jen for me.
Hugs to you both,
Laurie
