hey I was wondering???does Jim Beam or any kind of alcohol really help a cold or is it just an old wives tale?
I drank some cause well I feel it coming on and I was kind of hoping and well yes now I am kind of not rational,lol....
I had emailed my current ex because my aunt has her stuff and wanted to know when she was comming to get it.At lunch I found out things she had lied about....man I wish I could just find an honest woman.I don't think that is too much to ask for.Well I have a great job,I love and well that is all I care about right now...That and that my family has a good christmas....I kind of give up on woman hunting myself but not in a bad way...I just think she'll come to me and well I need to be more selective and I know that.Ok guess this turned into a venting post as well....lol....age is a numebr to me....I don't care about age as long as people are mature....think I must just go about meeting people wrong who knows. As for the ex from way back I have given up on her as well....guess some people never change.....And well I am meeting a friend and her newly single gay female friend on sat night to shoot pool...The girl wants to meet me,I'll be sober and maybe we can become friends,lol...thanks for letting me vent, you guys are wonderful....I am going to pass out soon now....have a great one,JO

That's an old wives tale, not only does it not cure a cold, but the alcohol causes the body to heat up, therefore causing your pores to open, and then exposing you to more cold, granted you will sweat it out, but then your "confusing" your body's system in it's process to heal itself.

Chicken noodle soup, rest, lots of rest, liquids, specifically water, cough syrup, and more rest. I'm not a doctor, but I've had plenty of colds. Take care of yourself, Jo.

*hands Jo a Hot Toddy*. Actually, green tea with a drop of honey, that is the best cure IMHO. If you're stuffy, eat a jalapeno. That works just as good as the nasal sprays, plus they're yummy - and japs don't mess up your nasal passages in the long run, which is an extra plus.

Good luck with the friend! Hope that "feeling" doesn't turn into a big bad ugly cold either. But if it does, just remeber green tea and japs.

I am glad that you finally let go the last "string" that kept you "tied" to her. Even though it was an unfortunate thing that you had to have a fight (and I know what you mean)I guess it had to happen to make sure that you both will (finally) leave each other alone.

Have a wonderful day!

Awwwww jo,
It is an old wives tale I think. Alcohol was a medicine in the 1800's to help numb pain. Maybe it just makes you forget you have a cold or at least no care if you do.
I hope you feel better soon.
Maybe Pam knows for sure about the alcohol.
Hugs,
Laurie

If you are really stuffy, and you eat several jalapenos flames will shoot out your butt and you will forget all about your nose being stuffy.

Actually, I had a doctor who also happened to be a good friend of mine who used to tell me: Make a nice, strong hot toddy and call me in the morning.

And you're right Laurie.

Hmmm, I never thought of that, Pam, thanks. I thought maybe alcohol wasn't good for a cold, hmmph, learn something new everyday. So, anyway, how are you coming along, and did you see your presents? ;-)

You are right Miss Gigi in that getting drunk would most likely make you more ill.
