Losing my mind

Okay, I think that I've officially lost my mind. Years of being alone has finally driven me mad. I have "hermit-osis" - you know like in Psychosis? Only it cannot be called psychosis because the distortion of reality is brought on by placing too much hope in PlanetOut and being alone for a consecutive 10 years.

Yesterday, (yes, I should be studying business math) I decided that a delicious turnover was due. So, I stopped by a local bakery that makes donuts, pastries, and other goodies. They make the most delicious blueberry turnovers. Melt in your mouth. Well, in front of me is this couple ordering the entire store. So, I'm waiting - impatiently I might add. To the edge of the counter is a slim, petite little blonde wearing a hairdresser's apron. I didn't think much of it. Then...

The little petite blonde turns around to leave. Her eyes meet mine. She gives me this long stare. It is like her eyes remain on mine until she's out of my sight. I turn my

RJ, You won't ever meet the criteria 100%. Those qualities that people list are preferred traits, not strict guidelines. I pretty sure they will consider others if approached. Not everyone will find their exact match. If you list something and someone met all the things you picked but one thing, would you still consider a date? Well, good luck to you my friend...don't give up on love, it finds you when you least expect it.....like in the bakery! smooches, Sandra

I worry about replying and bothering someone. I'm so busy with stuff that I can imagine someone else being busy as well. I hate to disappoint. I guess my confidence is low. Perhaps love will find me one day. But, in the meantime, I had better not hold

Wow! Pam, that was eloquent. I'm impressed. I want to date me. LOL

I have a profile on PlanetOut, but I'll be honest in saying that it was rather "thrown together." I've not had much time to put into it. And, if you want to you could say, "Well, if you don't have much time to put into your profile, then you shouldn't be dating." And, maybe I shouldn't. But, it is those Saturday nights when I'm tired and finally everything is settled- homework is done, bills are paid, don't have to go to work the next day- that I would like to have someone to hold and kiss. It is then that you want to date. During the week, I'm so busy that I don't have time.

I took my picture off my profile because I was getting too much attention. Since I've removed the picture, I've not had any responses. The last lady I met on PlanetOut, her and I physically met at Barnes and Noble. She was very false in who she was. She told me that she was feminine. I'm more feminine than she ever will be. If I had met her under other circumstances, I would have never considered dating her. We had nothing in common. The conversation grueling. I found myself looking for a way out. I hated that feeling.

I do best in meeting people in person verses Internet. Asheville, NC has jazz restaurant/bar and a coffee house plus other stuff. I'm not much into the loud music, smokey filled bars though. In person, I think I would be most successful. In an enviroment I have an interest in, the confidence I do have would show.

But, in the meantime, because Asheville is a 2 hour drive... I'm having time troubles enough, over the holidays after school is over, I'll revamp my profile. You did such a great job with your example, it has given me some ideas.

I vote Pam Lesbian of the Year!

Thanks!

rj, I belong to a personals website, and I've gotten alot responses, a lot of them turned out to be duds, and those that I thought were worthy of my attention, I gave them my AIM and yahoo addy. I've given them a month's time to IM me, and they have. But when I tried to "talk" with them they ignored me. So, I just deleted them from my buddy list. But I've decided to keep trying.

So, just keep trying.

Hugs,

Sebastian

Good for you on deciding to make that appointment! Did she have a name tag on to where you can maybe request her (or at least make sure she's working that day)? Go in there, make lots of eye contact, and *smile*.

Personally, I do not venture into the matchmaking sites. I've put up a few profiles on one or two, but since I refuse to post a pic I've gotten maybe three responses? I haven't looked lately, I probably wouldn't be able to remeber my user name or passwords anyway. I have heard good and bad stories about these sites. And on the subject of this woman you met who claimed that she was femme, well, in my experience many women who fall into the butch-boyish category honestly do consider themselves femme, so even if she did misinterpret herself in your oipnion, it may not have been intentional.

Good luck on the hermit-osis, I hope you find a remedy for that soon. And let us know how it went at the hair place too!

RJ,
Write miss bachelor degree and tell her you were interested but figured your PHD didn't meet her criteria. Haaahaa.
Tell her it's ok because she probably will be to busy studying for her master's to go sailing with you in the Carribian.
Then see if she changes her match criteria in about a week.
Then go get a hair cut with miss hottie!
Hugs,
Laurie

I definitly think you need a haircut!!! this situation kinda reminds me of L Word when... I cant remember her name, it has been too long since I have seen it.....the tennis player keeps getting food from the chef and she wonders if she is hitting on her. I think you have nothing to lose by trying! So go for it. at least make an appt to see more of the eye contact. see if you "feel" anything. go with your instinct. it is amazing how it works... you may have found something.
