Sweetie, IMO if you can't get what you want don't go for half. Don't give the owner the satisfaction. This is your deal and don't settle for less. I haven't read any of the 22 answers so I may be repeating. IMO, if you are buying don't settle for less. I know it may take another month or so but your happiness is the key here. Good luck in your hunt for happiness.

Pam, I think it sounds like an investment. I have owned 3 houses and I like the fixer-uppers, they bring in alot more money when you sell. I hope you get it, and I hope you get out without much trouble from the roommate. She sounds like a real peach. ;)
Even if you have to go to the laundry mat for a while....
