Love VS Life

As a 19 year old stumbling into acceptance of being a lesbian and falling in love with a woman that is 8 years my senior... I need advice. I have known for sometime that I feel stongly attracted to other women, and until recently, I told very few people. But now, I have found someone whom I want to be with openly. Problem is, I am coming out of a life full of addictions and insucurities, I know this scares her. And she is at a point in her life where she needs to find her sense of self and life she wants to lead. I have been in many relationships (men and a few women), she has been in none. I fear that there is still much she needs to learn about herself and come to terms with. I typically am away from the area for work, but for many reasons I am not leaving again, I would like to settle down, go back to school and build a life. And I know in doing this, she will still need alot of space between us, but my concerns are that by staying, I may be pushing her away. It seems so easy for her to close up and be alone instead of risking pain.
I know this is fairly vauge and may not make too much sense, but I am hoping someone may identify with the situation and be able to offer advice.

Welcome blue daze, my name is Gigi.
Gently speaking and a gentle suggestion, the both of you should take it slow and find out about yourselves more. The life that you both are coming into is very exciting, fun and wonderful. But please realize everything is a balance and you must take your time.
Personally speaking as a person that is recovering from addictions, the road to recovery is slow, but if you are honest with yourself, as you have been, then you should have no problems. As is suggested with two people are coming to know themselves, it's always best to separate just a bit.
I hope that gives you some help. Welcome to Lesbian Life.
Hugs!
