Warning on allergies...

I had an allergic reaction to caffeine. Today at work asked co-worker for any tylenol. She gave me excedrin. I thought, ok, haven't taken that in a while so I took two. Wrong choice. Nurse Pam, you are aware of this. Excedrin (each tablet is worth one cup of coffee) I took two and had a caffeine reaction. Twenty minutes later after my coworker that I ask for tylenol went to lunch. I had major hot flashes and was shaking like a leaf. Knew this was not usual. Knew I was having an allergic reaction. But didn't know it was from caffeine. Had a very shaky day today with the reaction. Could not stop shaking. So uncontrollable it scared me to the point I didn't dare to drive. I took it at 11 this morning and am just now coming down from my speed. They say it takes 6 hours to get rid of half the caffeine you have digested. How terrible. EVERYONE, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OTHER PEOPLE'S MEDICINE, IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU. Now I have to contact my physician and let them know that I am allergic to caffeine which is in alot of headache medicine. Blindly I did not know until today.

I had an experience once when I took two Midols for cramps

Thanks Buterfli, might I suggest next time, you drink lots of water, that's just to flush your system out!

Wow buterfli, I hope you are feeling much better by now.
I drink coffee day and night, so I would not have a problem with it but a friend of mine is very allergic to caffien. I will let her know about this.
Thanks for the info,
Hugs,
Laurie

Oh my goodness! Do you have much caffeine or any at all? I could not imagine having a reaction to it! I guess I'd know cause I have it all the time. WOW! Did you ever talk to a dr? Scary! Hope you are feeling better. Mandi

Tried to eat food to absorb and water to absorb. Let's just say my day at work was very unconventional and not to productive.I was literally speeding my body out that day. Did you know it takes 6 hours to get rid of half the caffeine u ingest. For a non caffeine person my coworker gave me two cups of strong coffee. I was shaking uncontrolable for 3 hours. Not a pleasant feeling. But thank you for your concern.

I have a B-12 shot due this month, Jan. and will make sure the dr. has a record of this. I never thought this a problem until now. Will alert dr.
