Baby Shower

Help! No, it's not my baby shower.
My first time throwing one. I will visit sites for ideas but I want input from people that threw one or more and those that attended one or more of these.

Does it need to be a surprise?
What is a sure hit food; finger's foods or a real meal dish.
Are favors a must?
Games, what kind of games played at a baby shower?
Lenght of time, can i have it for 3 hrs or shorter?

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

how fun! I think finger foods or some type of buffet would be best for a shower. we played a few games. one starts when the people enter they get a diaper pin or clothes pin attached to their clothes. when all are present explain that if you say "baby" the person that catches you gets your pin. whoever gets the most pins wins or whoever still has theirs wins. we also played the babyfood guess game. number the jars and write down what they are by their numbers, take off the labels and everyone guess what they are by smelling or looking or even tasting. it works better with single ingredient jars (peas, carrots, ect). you can even do a bottle rinking contest with whatever drink you or they choose. that is fun cause people think it will be easy but it is hard to suck those darn bottles! well, hope I gave some good ideas. have fun!

And after the pizza and beer, you can play pin the diaper on the baby. Or pin the bottle on the baby. Or just pin the baby.
I know that whenever I go to showers we have to make as many words as we can out of a word that goes with that theme...
Say you go with the word or words... breast pump... Ok now the person who makes the most words out of breast pump in 3 mins wins.
Example- east, beast, bump, eat, breast, burp, you get the picture. So... there's 3 mins. Only 2 hours and 57 more mins. to go. But I am thinking if you serve enough beer, the pin the baby thing will last a pretty long time. Just blind fold them, spin them around a few times and forget about them until someone screams.
Annnyyyyyy whooooo. If you do this it will be a shower to remember.
Good luck and just have fun.
Hugs,

Laurie

When does the fun part comes in? *grin*
It's more of a choir for me at the moment.
We (the committee) agree upon finger food/buffet but haven't decide on games yet.
Favors will be babies booties. I don't know what the guests will be doing with those!
But I was outvoted.

I'm just imagining diaper pins and me. I think I better stock up on band-aids.
The babyfood sound funny. It's great for the baby, we're taste test what he/she will eat and veto it with the mother before she can put it into the baby's mouth! I like it. I can't wait to see the rug cleaning bill! *L*

Thanks for your suggestions.
I'll bring it up to the committee and see what they think. *SMILE*

The shower is not a surprise.
It's going to be at the expectant mom's house.
I like the white choco favors...I'm going to see if I can change their mind about the booties.

Thanks!

Did you have pizza and beer for dinner too???

Now I have to go out and hire a baby since it's not born yet for us to pinned it. *grin*
I like the word game...but somehow, I'm leaving breast pump out of the choices. We did invite a formal nun to the party. I can imagine the words now.

Are you the backup party planner of LL?

Thanks for your ideas. *Smile*
