In reading several posts; I get the feeling that some people would really like to stop smoking. Hard thing to do, however, I have found that the following questions have helped many people make the right decision, and they have stucked to it without any medical assistance. So.....answer the questions and later I will post the answer....It's a visual thing! :)

Would you go out to your garage, pick up a can of motor oil, and drink it?

Tell me why not?

Just answer the questions truthfully; go with me on this one! :)

Hi Laurie,

Army Aviation.

Yes, I found a place in Waco Texas that manufactures balloons at an affordable price. Not sure if they exist still. When the time is right, I definitely want one! I do have a need for speed that is unexplainable, but, hot air balloons seem so romantic. I imagine a bottle of Reuniti, a picnic basket with french bread and assorted cheese plate, will go along just fine with the ride. lol What would you take?

Perhaps I will have a partner by that time, and we will have great fun! :)

Hi Cat

Second hand smoke is a real danger. When I washed the walls in my mom and dads house, the rag would be yellow from the oil that settled on everything. It was hard to keep the TV screen clean, it seemed to collect there the most because of the static electricity. My fathers finger nails were yellow from all the years of smoking.

Yes that same oil goes into your lungs. The old commercial where they inhale and blow the air onto a hanky, would show the oil, only know one really talked about it or referred to it as oil. I'm no expert on the contents of cigarettes, nor a chemist. I believe that it's the tar in the cigs that causes the oil to be mixed in with the smoke.

What I do believe, is that we need to give a more realistic picture of what smoking does to the body. For years we have sugar coated the industry because of the socio and economic problems that our country would face. What we need to remember, is that our responsibility should lay with the saving of lives, and improving on the quality of the life. Sorry so sincere today!

Yea, I know!

When I taught school, this was one of my lessons to my sixth graders, and I'm confident that it stopped many kids from smoking. I know my children hate it!

Interesting fact. If you took all the alveoli in your lungs and spread them flat, they would cover the length of four football fields/ or was that five? CRS When you lose the alveoli to the oil, you lose yardage> :) Good news is with exercise you can increase the number of alveoli's, you just can't get rid of the damaged ones.

No apology needed from you girl! You have a lot on your plate. See what I mean about not lecturing people. What an idiot for approaching you. You never know what circumstances people are under. Especially, near a funeral home! For god's sake, that was not cool.

One time, I was under great stress and I went to the local gay bar to have a beer. The girl next to me was smoking. In a moment of weakness, I said the hell with it and bummed (sp)shoot! took, lol, a cig from her. At first I gagged tremendously, then I settled down and it actually calmed me down. Never smoked one after that. But, for that one moment in time, I needed a cigarette! lol :)

sounds like band camp girl....lol

I was in Naval Aviation. I was in electronics. Keeping the planes flying.
That would be so awesome if you really got a balloon.
At least we both like flying.
I would of course bring my camera and Sheila. Then I think I would like to bring champagne, and I love cheese and bread. That would be the best trip.
I hope it can happen some day.
Hugs,
Laurie

I did not want to say anything but this is the longest I have ever gone without smoking.
I decided not to buy anymore cigs once I smoked the last in my pack. That was after reading this thread.
I have not smoked in 14 hours now. I keep picturing the oils in my lungs, that is disgusting.
So far so good! Of course I am cheating and using the patch program from the V.A.
I don't care as long as I can just quit!
Hugs,
Laurie
