BRAVO!!! You pretty much nailed it on the head Halo, i have only 4 years til i retire and it doesn't matter if i'm gay, lesbian or hetero i will still support and defend my country. I will do my job to the best of my ability, but in the mean time i will also uphold the UCMJ and follow the Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

hopefully in 5,10,15 maybe even 20 years who knows we will be accepted and allowed to serve our country wth pride just as we do now but more openly. So what if i am a lesbian doesn't mean i'm not going to stop doing my job i signed a contract to Honor, Obey and Defend the Constitution of the United States and it doesn't say any where in that contract i can't whether i'm gay, lebian, or hetero..I'm proud of who i am and what i do... That's my 2 cents...

I love working on Helicopters and the MH-53E is my Baby. I was the one they always came to when they had a problem i guess i was the subject matter expert. I know this aircraft inside and out. So it is my specialty i have to admit.

helo,

Gee you could have been one of my mechanics; were like ships passing in the night. Of course we only had Hueys and 58's, and the Apache of course. Good to know that we have a lot in common. We have a good show of vets on these boards. Laurieday was in the Aviation field as well. Together we can all make up one h of a unit, and if we can't do that, we can sure party on! ;) Welcome to the group!

Are you still working on them?

Karol, are you a helo pilot. I was supposed to have a helo ride before I left Spain, but the helo crashed on the deck while doing push ups or whatever you call them. I forget. Never got my ride. :(
Nobody was killed. They were not far off the ground. Just staying in one place going up and down.
It just made a bit of a mess, which I got to help clean up being on the emergency salvage and reclamation team. It seemed to sit there all roped off forever.
Anyway just interested to know if you are a pilot.
Take care,
hugs,
Laurie

Hi,

Yes, war stories are great! I'm not sure of your term push ups. I have never had the privilege of landing on an aircraft carrier. I do know that it's what they were practicing. Landing on the ocean is a tricky thing to do since the ship is rising and falling. They were actually in OGE, Out of ground effect hovers, or IGE, In ground effect hovers. Either one, the trick is to land gently and not crash! Obviously they had a hard landing, ouch! ;)

You know what's funny? In 8 1/2 years active service; I only ran into three other gay people in the military, and only one in aviation. Amazing to find all these veteran's right here. My gaydar was turned off during that time. ;(

I would have to say that yes, your gaydar was off. I know where ever I was it seemed most women were gay.
Or at least a large percentage.
Ok, maybe we called them push ups because that is what it looked like they were doing, lol.
