Update: coming out to my aunt...
Find a Conversation

I was speaking with my aunt over IM last night, and the conversation just kind of led in the right direction. I told her that I am a lesbian and explained that I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable if my g/f and I came up for the shower weekend. She was so awesome about everything. She told me it wasn't good to live a lie...that I shouldn't be afraid to be myself...and if anyone *was* uncomfortable, "F 'em". She was joking around, of course, but she felt that no one would have a problem with it at all, and she talked about a number of lesbian friends she's had in her life. Also said she knew that my cousin's wife wouldn't have an issue with this at all. She told me she loved me and was honored that I felt like I could open up to her. She asked if she could tell my uncle, which I thought was very respectful of her. I told her I didn't have a problem with anyone in the family knowing, as long as it wasn't going to really upset them. We decided to leave my great-aunts (who are in their late 80's) out of the loop as they are very old-world Italian and wouldn't get it. LOL! I am so relieved now. I like not having to carry a secret. :o)

That's wonderful news Jules! I know you are relieved. Hugs!
Doesn't it feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted form your shoulders?
Your aunt sounds very supportive. What a relief for both you and your partner.
Your great aunts are from the generation where you call you friends who are girls your girlfriends so it should work smoothly. lol.
Congrats!!
Hugs,
Laurie
