Isn't that goofy? Do you think the attitudes of these leaders are representative of the state? I know in NH they passed a dumb law last year barring same sex marriage, but polls consistently show most people here favour same sex marriage being allowed.

In this white wave
I am sinking
In this silence
In this white wave
In this silence I believe
I have seen you in this white wave you are silent
You are breathing in this white wave
I am free

Religion is oppressive in these parts.

Courtney,

You are much more well versed in this subject than I am.

First of all just let me tell you I love your SPonge Bob thing!
Let me know when that ad does come out.
I can believe they were asked to pray about it. That is how those people are...the things is who's voice are they really hearing?
I cannot sit back and do nothing any longer. I need to do something or I'll explode.
First I will send letters then I will also think of other things to get attention and explain things to people.
Then I will ask them to pray about it and ask themselves who's voice they might be hearing. I will ask them to find the word "Homosexual" in Hebrew, Greek, or other back when the Bible was written. There was no word with this meaning. Somebody added this word later while translating the Bible.
I need to add this to my documentary list.
I love these posts. I need to look into our state bill etc. Since our Mayor died and we now have a new Mayor.

~sigh~

I hadn't heard about this, but it doesn't surprise me. Religion is deeply entrenched here. I saw it at Radford, when so many of my professors and classmates were relieved and excited that W. won the election in November, and I see it just about every day at the college where we have a pretty solid number of students who are full-timers at Liberty University (Falwell's Bible college) who take a few classes at the community college (such as Sociology, Psychology, etc.) that they can't get at Liberty and also, several of our adjunct teachers teach full-time at Liberty and just do a couple of classes at the community college in their free time. The religion indoctrination and anti-gay sentiment is rampant around here.

Courtney,

Someone alot smarter than me is bound to come up with a solution to all of this bullying in the United States.

I saw a bumper sticker that said "I vote by the book" with a pic of a bible on it. I wanted to rear end them sooooooo bad. I wish these people would take the time to learn how and by whom that book was written and then take some more time to fully understand what it says. Personally, I don't care what it says now that I know about it's origin. It means absolutely nothing to me.

Have a great Sunday!

Not to get off topic here, but yesterday morning when I woke up I had the TV on. There was a short news brief about a large Gay/Lesbian mass wedding somewhere in downtown Houston at 1:30pm. I already knew that my day was pretty full so I would not be able to go and check it out. I figured I would dig up a news story somewhere covering the event so that I could post it here. I found no such article, and I did not pay enough attention to where it was held (I was still half asleep). And since I've pretty much been out of the loop here lately, I can't find anyone that knows much about it. Oh well. I guess the press is more interested in covering stories like the one you posted.....
