did any of you folks play sports in high school/college? if so what sport and do you still play? what is your favorite memory?

personally i played field hockey in high school, actually made the all conference team. that and a dime would have gotten me a phone call back then. in college i played club ice hockey. we had a lot of fun, drank a few beers and drove all over new england. i played hockey with some of the same women on an 'old ladies' team until this past year.

my favorite memory was driving home from a game at the University of Vermont (the driver was sober), it was 3:30 am and all of us in the suburban were just blasted. we had to stop every 10 minutes because one of the 7 of us had to pee. it took about 8 hours to get home (we were going back to UCONN). we had to get gas at the CT border and we were all chatting with a very nice state trooper. of course we all were trying to act straight (very tricky on many levels) and when we opened the car door, several empties fell out and smashed at his feet. he just smiled and said to be careful driving. (as i said our driver was sober and ironically he became a trooper himself years later).

how about you guys?

I was a cheerleader ( does that count? ) . I can't do alot of the gynastics anymore, but I'm still VERY flexable. My favorite memory has to be when I made the squad after I was tormented for weeks by the 'it' girls that I was not pretty or skinny enough, it was so sweet the look on thier faces < WEG> !!!

I think I would have enjoyed playing sports in school, however I was very much involved with competing in horse shows and training horses. It was practically all I did from ages 15-17.

Which sport do you prefer?

I played baseball and softball all my life, and played on the State 3 time Winning Team as a four year letter winner at YSU. I also played field hockey, a sport that I will cherish forever. I scored the most goals ever as a sophmore in college. I love to bowl, absolutely love to play basketball, and sometimes contemplate walking onto try outs and seeing if I can get picked. I used to want to be a Harlem Globe trotter when I was little but, no-one explained the rules to me. Pistol Pete Maravich and Curley O'niel were my heros. If you catch me at a bar, we can kick butt and run the table all night. I also played a year of Rugby with Kent Sate girls rugby team as a pick up when they were short. I love Golf as well.....I have done mountain climbing in Alaska, repelling and river rafting operations and survival, loved that!

thanks for the memories,

I played softball and tennis most of my life until my knees just could not take it anymore.
They both need to be replaced. I've played on women's teams and mixed teams and coached many teams.
I miss playing. I also played softball in the Navy and every year for nine years I made the All Star team and got to play in the regionals all over the united states and Europe.
I still don't think anyone could beat me in hitting averages, haaaaa.
Every team and league I played on, I had the highest batting average and most home runs.
Now tennis, that is a different story. I love to play, but just never had the talent to be very good at it. I can hold my own in casual play, but never won anything important.
I have been so happy to see Women's softball become a part of the Olympics.
My favorite movie is A League of Their Own.
Fun post and a fun trip down memory lane! Thanks!
Have a great weekend!

I played redneck football with the boys in our backyards in the mobile home park. There wasn't any glory. Not any ivy league or college bragging rights. Just a bunch of poor kids getting dirty and having fun.

I always loved baseball! When I was in grade school, I lived in an apartment complex populated by many other kids my age. I was so good at batting that the boys would
