I havent heared of her either but I would check the library. Make sure you listen to it first though. Some of those "self help" tapes make it worse not better. I hate to bring it up again but my dad was listening to a depression tape by some preacher guy and we listened to it and it was the most depressing things I have ever heared before. I would go with maybe a meditation music CD or a soothing sounds CD instead of talking. I have one I use for my anxiety attacks and it had rain music (what I call it). Bamboo flutes and rain and drums mostly but it is very relaxing and it really helps me a lot. Just my .02. I guess as far as you go, you can cry with me. I am sorry your son is going through all this and you cant be with him. It is so hard to see and know your children are in pain and you cant do anything about it. I will add you and he to my long list of prayers. Big Hugs to you! Mandi

Popping out of lurkdom with my two cents...

Lucinda Bassett is, I think, an author and sister to an actress (and maybe has done some acting herself, not sure about that), and while I'm sure she's fine as a person, but... I've not heard good things about her tapes. Not that they are bad necessarily, just that they are unhelpful. I've not used them personally. But I have a friend who used to have pretty severe panic attacks, to the point where she tried any and everything to overcome, including self-help tapes and books. She tried the Bassett tapes, and said that they (along with some others) were not at ALL helpful and a major waste of money (as you mentioned, they are quite expensive). I would think that your local library might have them available, in that case they may be well worth checking out. However, I would think long and hard about actually purchasing them. As I said though, I've had no personal experience with them, this is just my thoughts via word-of-mouth experience.

Someone (Mandi, maybe?) mentioned meditation type CD's, I think that is a great idea and I know for a fact that Target has a couple of really good ones, and they're cheap too.

HTH!

Big, big hugs to you and dear son and other son and ~S~ too, for being such a great friend and support to you.
